Asalamu Alaikum,

REOPENING HODA CENTER ON FRIDAY, JUNE 12 INSHA'ALLAH: RULES AND GUIDELINES

To ensure the safety of our community at large, men will pray inside the men's prayer hall and dining hall on a first come, first serve basis and social/physical distancing.
Women will pray upstairs on a first come, first serve basis-capacity of 12 (please no children inside).
EVERYONE MUST HAVE A MASK & PRAYER RUG FOR ENTRY-NO EXCEPTIONS
For those aged 65 and above and/or with chronic medical conditions, please stay in your cars, park in the back of the building, listen to the khutba on Zoom, and pray outside.
Entrance for the men will be the FRONT DOOR, women will use the women's entrance
Exit for all men will be the BACK DOOR
If you arrive and the inside prayer is at capacity, you can pray outside in the back
Khutba will be live and simultaneously broadcast on Zoom (Zoom link to be sent in a future email)
Athan will be at 1:30pm, followed a shortened (approximately) 15 minute khutba, and then prayer

Asalaamu Alaikum,

EID:
Eid ul-Fitr, the first day of Shawwal, is on Sunday, May 24, 2020.

There will be no community Eid prayer this year due to the Coronavirus pandemic. You may pray Salat al-Eid (Eid prayer) at home with your family (or individually if you are living by yourself). There is no need for a khutbah.

Eid Prayer at home guide-How to pray?

Follow the same practice which you followed in the past. This means get ready and pray at the correct time.

You can pray 15 minutes after sunrise up until 20 minutes before Zuhr

Prayer will have Two Rakat

In the first Rakat, say Allahu Akbar, then say Takbeer ("Allahu Akbar") 6 or 7 times...you can do 6 Takbeers after the opening Takbeer or 7 Takbeers after the open Takbeer (total will be 7 or 8)
The Surah should be read out loud. This includes Surah Al Fatihah and another surah after that.

Second Rakat will have 5 Takbeers ("Allahu Akbar") after you get up. Then recite Surah Al Fatihah and another surah out loud.

Then finish your prayer with ruku', sujud, and tashahud as you do in your regular prayers

EID:
The Fiqh Council of North America (FCNA) has determined that Eid ul-Fitr, the first day of Shawwal, is on Sunday, May 24, 2020.

There will be no community Eid prayer this year due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Our community youth group leaders will be hosting an E-Eid Youth Group Family Celebration on Sunday, May 24 from 12pm-2pm via Zoom. This interactive activity is open to all community members.

Please email pictures of your children and Eid preparations to [email protected] so that we can put together a slide-show and celebrate! These can include pictures of henna designs, desserts, home Eid decor, kids playing, short video clips...kids being KIDS! Please contact the Hoda Center for Zoom link.

Zakat al Fitr is compulsory and is paid for each member of the family before Eid al Fitr. Zakat al Fitr is estimated at $10 per person but for those who are able to pay more, they are encouraged to take this opportunity to help those who are less fortunate.

Please...pay your Zakat al Fitr as early as possible so that funds can be distributed in a timely manner.

Turkish Food Fair: This year, due to COVID-19, the annual Gainesville Turkish Food Fair - which partners with charities to raise money for humanitarian crises around the globe - had to be cancelled. However, you can still help out! The organizers will be raising money by selling the same food via curbside pickup from their home.

Nightly Zoom: We have Quran recitation, a brief 5 minute session answering your questions, and beautiful Duaa (Arabic and English) at the end starting at 9:30pm every night.
