Grace Church of Gainesville

Grace Church of Gainesville We are people of the gospel: people shaped by the gospel, people sharing the gospel, and people sure of the gospel

A few labels that may serve to categorize who we are as a church...

We are EVANGELICAL and therefore believe that the Bible is God’s Word and is therefore without error and is our final authority for all matters of life and doctrine. Second, it means we believe people need to respond to the gospel of Christ in order to be saved. We are REFORMED in our theology and therefore embrace a view of the

teaching of Scripture that places God at the center of all things, and places emphasis on the activity of God and the glory of God in saving sinners. We are BAPTISTIC in practice and therefore believe that believer’s baptism is the step of Christian obedience which publicly identifies a believer with Jesus and His church.

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.”
1 Peter‬ ‭1‬:‭3‬ ‭

A Good Friday reflection found in Isaiah 53:3-11.

“He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief; and as one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted.

But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed.

All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one—to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.

He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth; like a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and like a sheep that before its shearers is silent, so he opened not his mouth.

By oppression and judgment he was taken away; and as for his generation, who considered that he was cut off out of the land of the living, stricken for the transgression of my people?

And they made his grave with the wicked and with a rich man in his death, although he had done no violence, and there was no deceit in his mouth.

Yet it was the will of the Lord to crush him; he has put him to grief; when his soul makes an offering for guilt, he shall see his offspring; he shall prolong his days; the will of the Lord shall prosper in his hand.

Out of the anguish of his soul he shall see and be satisfied; by his knowledge shall the righteous one, my servant, make many to be accounted righteous, and he shall bear their iniquities.”

From Keith and Kristyn Getty's "Gethsemane"

To see the King of heaven fall
In anguish to His knees
The Light and Hope of all the world
Now overwhelmed with grief
What nameless horrors must He see
To cry out in the garden
Oh, take this cup away from me
Yet not my will but Yours

To know each friend will fall away
And heavens voice be still
For hell to have its vengeful day
Upon Golgotha's hill
No words describe the Saviors plight
To be by God forsaken
Till wrath and love are satisfied
And every sin is paid

What took Him to this wretched place
What kept Him on this road?
His love for Adam's cursed race
For every broken soul
No sin too slight to overlook
No crime too great to carry
All mingled in this poisoned cup
And yet He drank it all
The Savior drank it all
