This month’s volunteer spotlight is the Richardsons!🙌 If you know them, you love them! Chase and Jenn have been married for 14 years and have two boys, Levi and Jude. They have attended Sola for a year and a half and have loved serving together. Chase and Jenn serve on the worship team, while Jenn also helps with children’s check-in, often joined by Levi. Worship ministry has been part of their entire marriage and is actually how Chase and Jenn first met!

To the Richardsons, serving is a form of worship. They believe the Lord equips every believer with different gifts, and that using them glorifies Him and blesses the church. Serving is an outward reflection of how the gospel has impacted their lives and shaped their family culture. What a gift it is to have this crew as a part of our church family!⛪️

August is Serve the Church Month!⛪️🫶 Scripture describes the Church as one body with many members, each uniquely gifted and needed. We follow the example of the One who “came not to be served but to serve” by faithfully stewarding our gifts for the good of His body.

If you’re ready to find your place serving at Sola City, fill out the “Serve the Church” form linked in our bio, and someone from our team will follow up with you about next steps!

What a beautiful send-off and final service with our Cosgroves. Jay’s last sermon out of 1 Peter 1:1-2 spoke so beautifully to God’s purpose in their move to New York. Though their absence will be deeply felt, we are expectant to see the Lord’s purposes unfold in their next chapter. Jay and Danielle, we pray the Lord continues to accomplish His redemptive plan in and through your family, that He uses this transition to sanctify you, and that you would be joyfully obedient in whatever He calls you to. We love you so very much!

This month’s Volunteer Spotlight is especially meaningful as we celebrate the Cosgrove family!💌

Jay and Danielle have been married for almost 13 years and have three children: Sybil, Evelyn, and Laurence. They have been part of Sola since its launch eight years ago, faithfully loving and serving nearly every area of our church.

Jay serves as an elder and Danielle as our Deacon of Worship. Together, they serve on the worship team, have led community groups for five years, and continually step in wherever needed, from kids ministry and media to hospitality and beyond.
For the Cosgroves, serving is a response to the love of Christ: “We believe that it is so important for us to live lives in service to the Body of Christ, because of all that Christ has done for us. He emptied himself fully to show us an example of what it looks like to lay our lives down. We desire to love His church with open hands, and to use the giftings he’s given us to make much of who He is.”

This spotlight is also bittersweet, as the Cosgroves have just a few more weeks with us before their move to New York. They have been pivotal members of our church family, shaping us through their leadership, friendship, and service. Though they will be deeply missed, they leave behind an incredible legacy. We are profoundly grateful that the Lord is sending some of Sola’s very best to continue loving and serving the Body of Christ as they have done so beautifully here.

Cosgrove family, we love you, thank God for you, and are so grateful for the lasting mark you have made on Sola City Church. Let’s show this crew some love in the comments!!⬇️

The Book of Psalms is the Bible's primary prayer book. As we continue our “Summer in the Psalms,” here's a three-fold framework to help us read them well!

1. Understand history and context:
We must first anchor each psalm in its original ancient, covenantal, and historical context. By reading the text as a historical document first, we observe how the psalmists expressed desperation and trust within their specific Old Testament framework.

2. See Jesus:
History is not the true destination of the Bible; the Psalms point us toward Jesus Christ. Jesus quoted and embodied these songs throughout His earthly ministry, expressing His perfect obedience, His deep sufferings, and His ultimate vindication.

3. Embrace the Psalms as your own:
Because the Psalms belong to Jesus, they now overflow to everyone who is united to Him. Believers can confidently pray these words back to God, making an ancient songbook our ultimate school of prayer! The Psalms teach us how to lament, rejoice, and align our desires with God's kingdom.

We hope this serves as a helpful guide as you spend time in God's Word this week. See you Sunday, Church!

In the month of July, we’re looking at the Psalms and their application to the Christian life! This past Sunday, we kicked off the series with Psalm 16 and a simple but convicting question: Where are you running for refuge? Psalm 16 reminds us that true refuge is found in God alone. Faith is actively running to the Father and experiencing the inheritance, security, and fullness of joy that can only be found in Him.

See you Sunday for week two in the Psalms. You don’t want to miss it!

Volunteer spotlight: Lindsey Pruitt! ✨

Lindsey has been a part of Sola for a little over two years and serves in children’s ministry with our 0 to 3-year-olds.

Lindsey’s heart for serving stems from the belief that participation in the ex*****on of the gathering of the body of believers is “a prerequisite for calling yourself a church member.” What a powerful truth! Lindsey lives out what it means to bring her portion to the table, knowing that when we do, we build up the body and experience purpose and belonging in community.

Lindsey consistently demonstrates a hunger to know Jesus more and a wisdom that strengthens those around her. Serving our church has been a tangible way for her to stay committed, plugged in, sacrificial, and unified with the body.

We’re so grateful for you, Lindsey!
