Long Dark Night of the Soul

Words and lyrics by:

Spoken word by:

Weeping may last through the night,
but joy comes with the morning.
Psalm 30:5

We hit rock bottom hard,
buried in pain we can't escape,
nights stretching endless with no dawn.
We face the wounds head-on,
admit the weakness that crushes us,
let truth rip open the lies we lived.
In recovery,
we grieve the losses that broke us,
feel the sting of betrayal's blade.
But Christ meets us in the pit,
turns our hell into a path out,
pulls us up when we can't stand.
Strength flows from surrender now,
freedom follows the honest hurt,
healing mends what we thought died.
No more alone in the dark house,
light breaks through the cracks we hid,
life pulses fresh after the grave.
We come alive in His grip,
find beauty waiting on the other side,
joy rising as the night fades.

Father God,
we come from our deepest pits.
We thank You for turning
weakness into power,
for meeting us in the hurt.
Help us face the pain without running,
grieve what needs grieving.
Teach us to surrender daily in recovery,
trust Your light ends the night.
Remind us joy follows the weeping,
that You pull us from hell to life.
Let us walk free in Your healing.
In Jesus’ name,
we pray.
Amen.

Faith Through the Haze

Words and lyrics by:

Spoken word by:

If you have faith as small
as a mustard seed,
you can say to this mountain,
'Move from here to there,'
and it will move.
Matthew 17:20

We doubt the promises we hear,
question if love really holds firm.
But You prove it daily,
step by step.
We face days when belief feels weak,
hearts heavy with old hurts,
minds spinning in uncertainty.
Yet You never walk away,
Your love pushes through barriers,
shifts obstacles we can't budge.
In dry seasons of struggle,
You bring refreshment we need,
turn barren paths into flowing streams.
We feel unworthy of such care,
but You lift us anyway,
give strength for the next mile.
In this new life of recovery,
we choose to trust Your word,
worship despite the questions.
Your faithfulness wins our hearts,
pulls us closer in praise,
makes doubt fade in Your light.
We lift our voices now,
declare Your goodness real,
celebrate the God who stays.

Father God,
we come with our honest doubts.
We thank You for love that never quits,
for moving mountains in our lives.
Build our faith small step by step,
help us worship through the haze.
Teach us to see Your hand at work,
providing strength we can't find alone.
Remind us in recovery's walk,
You are faithful and true.
Let our praise rise strong,
believing more each day.
In Jesus’ name,
we pray.
Amen.

Come to me,
all who labor and are heavy laden,
and I will give you rest.
Matthew 11:28

I have reached for hands,
that could not hold this weight.
Looked for rescue,
in people just as tired as me.
Wanted somebody human
to fix what was breaking
inside my ribs.
But some nights
the ache goes deeper than advice.
Deeper than a number in my phone.
Deeper than a shoulder,
kind as it is.
That is where Jesus met me.
Not as a distant name.
As the Friend
who could actually stay.
The Friend
who could carry what I dropped.
The Friend
who stepped into my wreckage
and called me worth saving.
Recovery is constantly reminding me
there are things only Christ can lift.
And thank God
He still can.

Jesus,
be the Friend
my heart has needed.
When I am too tired to explain
stay near.
When I am too weak to stand
hold me up.
When I am too ashamed to speak
meet me there.
Carry what I cannot.
Heal what I cannot reach.
Sit with me
in the places I still hide.
Teach me to lean
without fear.
Teach me to trust
without running.
Teach me that Your mercy
is stronger than my mess.
Thank You,
for being the Friend
who does not leave.
Thank You,
for loving me
all the way through healing.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.

Sweet Surrender

℗ Renegade

Words and lyrics by:
Auri Wynn, Jack Miller, and Asher

Spoken word by:
Auri Wynn

Be still,
and know that I am God.
Psalm 46:10

Let go of the fight,
drop the heavy load now.
Find peace in release,
joy in open hands.
We push through the mess alone,
grip control until it breaks us.
But Christ calls us to stop,
rest in His strong arms.
Each day in recovery,
we hand over the struggle,
feel freedom wash over us.
No more chasing our own way,
just trust in His perfect plan,
hearts light with fresh hope.
Surrender brings sweet calm,
turns chaos into praise,
lifts our souls in worship.
We celebrate His goodness here,
thank Him for the easy yoke,
walk lighter in His love.

Father God,
we come ready to release.
We thank You for peace
that settles deep,
for joy in simple trust.
Help us be still in Your presence,
hand over every burden.
Teach us surrender's beauty daily,
fill us with worshipful hearts.
Remind us in recovery's steps,
Your way brings true rest.
Let our praise rise high,
honoring You always.
In Jesus’ name,
we pray.
Amen.

C**t Harlan & The Redeemed
Ain't No Freedom Without Jesus

Written in conjunction with Recovery Alive in Gainesville Florida.

I was chasing that same old fire
Down the same old winding road
Riding that rush running through my veins
Like a wreck I just couldn’t outrun
Scared of tomorrow, scared to death
Couldn’t catch my breath in the grip of regret
But I kept chasing that same old fire
Down the same old winding road

Ain’t no freedom without Jesus
Just the echo of the old lies calling
You’ll know when He’s breaking through ya
Pouring out His mercy like holy rain falling

I got rescued by the same strong Savior
The same strong Savior who gave His life for me
He ain’t knocking me down, He’s lifting me up
With His blood setting this captive free
I was running but now I’m standing firm
Praying for strength when the old urges burn
Now I’m walking in the power of His grace
On this brand-new road He made

Ain’t no freedom without Jesus
Just the echo of the old lies calling
You’ll know when He’s breaking through ya
Pouring out His mercy like holy rain falling

No more chasing the thrill while the world falls apart
No more praying for peace with a divided heart
Jesus broke the power of that old dead-end life
Now I’m living whole in the light of Christ
I was lost in the storm, now I’m anchored in the King
Every chain is shattered when His Spirit moves in

Ain’t no freedom without Jesus
Just the echo of the old lies calling
You’ll know when He’s breaking through ya
Pouring out His mercy like holy rain falling
Ain’t no freedom without Jesus
Hallelujah, every chain is falling
Now I’m running to forever
With my Savior leading all the way

Where the River Goes

℗ Renegade

Words and lyrics by:
Auri Wynn, Jack Miller, and Sage

Spoken word by:
Auri Wynn

Everything will live where the river goes.
Ezekiel 47:9

I spent years,
trying to dam up my own soul.
Holding back tears.
Holding back truth.
Holding back all the places, that hurt.
But buried pain,
still leaks through.
And a thirsty heart,
cannot heal on dust.
Then Jesus met me,
not like a flood of fear.
Like living water.
Steady.
Clean.
Kind enough to wash,
what shame kept touching.
Recovery has felt like that.
Not me saving me.
But Christ cutting a river,
through dry ground.
And where He flows,
old chains loosen.
Dead places soften.
Hope starts moving again.

Jesus,
run through me.
Through the hard places,
run through me
Through the hidden places,
run through me.
Through the places,
still cracked by grief,
run through me.
Wash what is false.
Clean what is wounded.
Carry off what is heavy.
Teach me to yield.
Teach me to trust.
Teach me to let Your mercy,
go deeper than my fear.
Thank You,
that Your grace still moves.
Thank You,
that You make dry places live.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.

It's Recovery Dance Wednesday. Time for a little recovery dance music.

Recovery's In The Heart
We're going to worship
And praise our God
(Dig it!)

The chills that you spill on my heart
Leave me filled with satisfaction
Satisfaction of what's to come
(Yeah, clarity's the bomb!)

I couldn't ask for another
(No, no)
I couldn't ask for another
(Your recovery groove, I do deeply dig
No cravings, only the bridge, my recovery dish
My clean succotash wish—sing it, baby!)
I couldn't ask for another
(No, no)
I couldn't ask for another

Christ's in the heart
Christ's in the heart
(Yeah!)
Christ's in the heart
(Watch out!)
Christ's in the heart
(Whoo!)

Watch out
(Ooh-ooh-ooh)
(The empty cup)
We're going through to hot mess-up
But now we're rising, no more slip-ups!

I couldn't ask for another
(No, no)
(Be just as soft as a pillow)
(I don't need to be solo)
(It's not vicious or malicious)
(Just a lovely and delicious)
I couldn't ask for another

(Someone's in this torso)
(Hot got a deal, you want no-no)
(The life so truly delightful)
(Life making it, doing especially at the meeting)
(Well I gotta holla like a 160)
(Recovery makes me move like I'm free)
(All inside a heart especially)
(Help of the program that I want to be)
(Flowing, glowing with electric high)
(Addicted to the vibe, baby you're real fly)
(Look at me you see the funk is out of me)
(Baby you see that recovery is the key)
(Dig-it, dig-it, dig-it, can't get with it, quick-it)
(Stop falling sweet what I hear funky)
(Pinky, poppy, poppy, poppy)
(Baby just sing about it)
(Sing it!)
Christ's in the heart
Recovery's in the heart
Sobriety's in the heart
(Whoo!)
Christ's in the heart
(He-he-he)
(Come on y'all)
(Y'all are sober strong, man!)

Recovery Anthem
Love Instead

℗ Renegade

Words and lyrics by:
Jack Miller and Sage Miller

Given up to silence
Given up to drift (ooh)
Given something stronger
A voice, a steadiness, a way
Love instead
Power instead
Mind made clear
We are held
Love instead
Power instead
Mind made sound
We are free
The self fades in grace
The mirror lets go
(Whoa)
It was never fear he gave
He gave voice, he gave love
He gave the silence peace
And the heart grew still
Not weak
But awake
Love instead
Power instead
Mind made clear
We are held
Love instead
Power instead
Mind made sound
We are free
We are held
No fear
Only love
Only love
