Dianne and I moved to Gainesville February 2025, from Hendersonville NC where we were involved in a church ministry called Loves Kitchen. The activity included clothes, food to take out, and a hot meal each Thursday. With that as a background we were looking for something similar here, when we were introduced to Good Samaritan Food Ministries. We visited with Jackie Powers on a Wednesday and started volunteering the following Friday. The team was very kind and made us feel right at home, so we settled in quickly.

After a few months Jackie approached me about joining the Board which I explained because of being new to the community we didn't know many people. She must have been looking for someone to warm a seat, but if you know Jackie she can be quite persuasive. I have certainly enjoyed meeting two groups of people who have a love for this ministry, and show the love of Jesus in many ways.
