Dear Church Family,

Laity Sunday reminds me how grateful I am to serve alongside you. Gainesville First is filled with people who keep showing up by teaching children, encouraging teenagers, welcoming guests, serving our neighbors, and walking with one another through difficult seasons.

Some of that work happens where everyone can see it. Much of it happens quietly. And all of it matters.

Thank you for the ways you give yourselves to the ministry of this church.

Throughout this stewardship season, we have been talking about “Playing the Long Game.” We live in the generosity of people who came before us. Now we have the opportunity to do the same for someone else.

A child who has not yet walked through our doors. A family looking for community. A neighbor who needs to know that God has not forgotten them. Our giving today helps make room for their stories.

What are we willing to invest today so that someone else can encounter Jesus tomorrow? Thank you for your faithfulness and for continuing to build bridges to Jesus. I am grateful we get to do this together.

WHY EVERYTHING YOU OWN IS ALREADY SOMEONE ELSE'S

Proverbs gives us good advice: "Know well the condition of your flocks, and give attention to your herds" (Proverbs 27:23). In other words, take good care of your sheep and goats.

Back then, flocks and herds meant food, clothing, and security. Don't be careless with what God has entrusted to you.

Pay attention to what comes in and goes out. Know what you have, what's healthy, what's being neglected, and where it's all going.

Riches don't last forever. One day somebody's going to be living in your house, driving your car, and having your job. Eventually, someone else will own it all.

Since none of it lasts, Jesus says: "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth... but store up for yourselves treasures in heaven" (Matthew 6:19-20).

Everything we have is ours for a little while, so handle it well. "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also" (Matthew 6:21).

Off the Grid / October 23–25
Please be in prayer for our students and leaders as they head to Camp Glisson this weekend for Off the Grid! Pray that this retreat will be an opportunity to step away from busy schedules, connect with friends, grow in their faith, and experience God in meaningful ways through worship and time together.

Gadabouts / October 28 / 11am
Get ready for a spooktacular edition of Gadabouts! We're putting a Halloween twist on our monthly BINGO with festive cards and candy prizes. Wear your favorite Halloween attire (or a costume!) and join us for a morning of food, fellowship, and fun! Menu:Cheesy chicken and rice casserole, green peas, carrots, and brownies.

Trunk or Treat / October 28 / 6–8pm / Parking Lot
Join us for a night of fall fun for the whole family! Trunk or Treat is back with creatively decorated trunks, bounce houses, hot dogs, Kona Ice, tons of candy, and plenty of excitement for all ages! Invite your friends, family, and neighbors to enjoy this FREE community event. We can't wait to welcome everyone to Gainesville First!

This year, we're collecting non-perishable food items to support individuals and families in our community experiencing food insecurity. Donation bins will be located throughout the Trunk or Treat parking lot.
