GOD ISN'T FINISHED WITH YOU YET

Failure has a way of convincing you that the part of your life where God used to use you is behind you now.

That you had your chance. That He's moved on. That you're done.

But that's a lie.

Grace meets you exactly where you think the story has ended.

It walks into the place you've already counted yourself out and reminds you that God is not finished.

Not with you. Not with any of us.

Your failure didn't disqualify you. It just made room for grace to do its best work.

This Sunday, May 10, we will receive our annual Mother’s Day Offering for Wesley Woods. For over 50 years, North Georgia churches have supported this United Methodist ministry caring for older adults. Your gift helps provide housing, care, and chaplain support for seniors, including those who have outlived their savings. Honor the women who have shaped your life by giving to help older adults live with dignity and care.

Give using the envelope provided or note “Wesley Woods” on your check. Learn more at wesleywoods.org.

This coming Sunday, we begin our regularly scheduled 8:30 a.m. Lakeside service, and I cannot think of a better way to start the morning than gathering by the water with the Chuck Nation Band leading us in worship.

There is a special joy in worshiping lakeside. The setting is beautiful, the atmosphere is relaxed, and the fellowship is warm and welcoming. It is a service where people can come as they are and experience the presence of God in a simple, meaningful way.

This is also a wonderful Sunday to invite someone to join you. Lakeside is a friendly, informal service that makes it easy for guests, neighbors, and friends to feel at home. Whether someone is new to church, returning after time away, or simply looking for a peaceful place to worship, this is a beautiful opportunity to extend an invitation.

Bring a chair (or borrow one of ours), bring a friend, and come ready to worship together. We look forward to seeing you Sunday morning at 8:30 by the lake.

On May 4, 1956, women were granted full clergy rights in the United Methodist Church. This was a holy and historic step toward recognizing the gifts, calling, and leadership of women in ministry.

Today, Gainesville First United Methodist Church celebrates and gives thanks for the faithful witness of women clergy, especially Rev. Carolyn Clifton and Rev. Sandy Skinner. Their leadership, preaching, pastoral care, wisdom, and courage continue to bless our church and community.

We honor the women who paved the way, the women who faithfully serve today, and the girls and young women who are hearing God’s call for tomorrow.

What a beautiful day at Gainesville First!

We gathered as one church family for Confirmation Sunday, celebrating the faith and commitment of our confirmands as they took this meaningful next step in their journey with Christ. There’s nothing more powerful than watching young people boldly say “yes” to a life of faith!

With one combined service, our entire church came together in worship—filling the space with joy, encouragement, and so much love for these students and their families.

And of course… we kept the celebration going with a delicious taco lunch afterward!

Days like this remind us, this is what church is all about. Community. Faith. Celebration.

We are so proud of our confirmands and grateful for a church family that shows up in such a big way.
