🔥Pentecost Sunday🔥 Witnessing teams sharing the good news of the Gospel with our community. Pictures of our witnessing teams at our debrief session. We thank God for those who confessed Christ today! We also thank God for those who recommitted their lives and on Christ. We are excited for those who seek to be recommitted to attending a church in the community. 🔥Empowering, Equipping, Connecting Disciples of Christ.🔥

Join us for our first Candid Conversation as we unpack how that voice shows up in our lives and learn how to recognize the difference between fear, doubt, and the voice of God calling us forward.

This will be a safe space for honesty, growth, vulnerability, and real conversation. You don’t have to have it all figured out to show up! 💚

Larry Gene Jackson was born on July 20, 1958, to the late Dorothy Mae Jackson and the late Robert Lee Blanks. On Saturday, May 2, 2026, Larry peacefully departed this life, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, devotion, and cherished memories that will last forever.

Larry was a proud graduate of the Jackson High School Class of 1977. After proudly serving his country as a Field Medic in the military, Larry devoted many years to working as a Correctional Officer at Atmore prison facilities, including Fountain, Holman, and J.L. Davis. Larry was known as a hardworking man who took pride in providing for and protecting his family.

A man of faith, Larry was a devoted member of Good Hope A.M.E. Church in Gainestown, Alabama. After the church closed, his membership was transferred to Antioch A.M.E. Church in Gainestown, Alabama where he continued his walk of faith.

Larry found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved hunting, fishing, gardening, and working on cars, but nothing brought him greater happiness than spending time with his family. His greatest love was his wife, Emily Jackson, whom he adored deeply for 28 beautiful years. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, loyalty, and unwavering commitment. Larry treasured every moment spent with Emily and always made sure his family knew they were the center of his world.

Larry especially cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren, Morgan and Meela, creating memories that they will hold close forever. He also shared a special bond with his devoted brother, Derrick Jackson.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Lathaniel Washington; his sister, Frankie Mae Jackson; and his brother, Robert Blanks.

He leaves to cherish his legacy and precious memories to his loving and devoted wife, Emily Jackson; one granddaughter, Jasmine Ervin; one grandson-in-law, Broderick Washington; two great-grandchildren, Morgan and Meela Ervin; father-in-law, Elvin Fox of Choctaw Bluff, Alabama; two godchildren, Keila Jackson and Bryston Pritchett of Walker Springs, Alabama; five sisters, Karen Pope of Grove Hill, Alabama, Stacey (Henry) Moore of McKinney, Texas, Sandra Jackson of Montgomery, Alabama, Alfreda (Kenneth) Caffee of Mobile, Alabama, and Michelle Blanks of Mobile, Alabama; six brothers, Amos (Alice) Jackson and Derrick (Sheila) Jackson, both of Gainestown, Alabama, Alonzo Jackson of Montgomery, Alabama, Van Blanks of Detroit, Michigan, Anthony (Cassandra) Jackson of Jackson, Alabama, and Calvin (Imogene) Jackson of Mobile, Alabama; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends; two devoted friends, Famous Abston and Brian Davis.
