The weather was great yesterday. We had a small but mighty turnout. The reality is we’re at a point where the keepers of the tradition are joining the ones being kept. I grew up with Decoration Day (or The Decoration as my granny always called it) being a big deal. I remember having lunch after church with a towel wrapped around me so I wouldn’t get dirty for when we’d head back out to the cemetery. That was the 70’s & 80’s. I’m sure it was bigger than that in earlier years. I’d love to hear any of those stories.
I hope this is something that continues long after those who are doing it now are gone. Share your memories with your kids and grandkids, tell them who’s buried there, tell them the stories. That’s how traditions survive.
