DC Students A page to keep up with what's happening with dcStudents. At Discovery Church, we are concerned about the world that our students face every day.

We believe that students are either influencing or being influenced by the culture surrounding them. It is our goal to create a fun environment where students can develop healthy relationships and know that there is a God who loves them and has a plan for their life. Our hope is that through a growing relationship with Jesus, students can face the world around them, and in turn, influence others to do the same.

Who are we around others? Who do we feel like we need to be in order to be loved? Sometimes we wear masks around thinking that we need to be anything else in order to be accepted, in order to survive. But we are only called to be who God has created us to be. We are called to be free from the masks we wear.

This 3-week series covers the topic of identity and false identity, teaching students the reality of masks in our lives and how to begin the process to take those masks off and live in the freedom of who we really are. This will be our June series

Series Overview

This four-week series celebrates Jesus as a storyteller by taking a closer look at four of His lesser-known parables and digging deeper into the lessons that students can apply to their lives today.

Session 1: Forgiveness
Big Idea: Freedom is found in forgiving others.
Question for Discussion: How might remembering that God forgave you when you didn’t deserve it change how you view people who you might need to forgive?

Session 2: Value
Big Idea: Our value is found in who we are, not what we do.
Question for Discussion: What’s something that you tend to compare yourself to others about? Maybe talents, grades, popularity, or something else? How does that comparison affect you?

Session 3: Commitment
Big Idea: Commitment is shown through action, not just words.
Question for Discussion: What do you think is the difference between repentance and simply changing your mind? How would you explain it to someone who has never heard of repentance before?

Session 4: God’s Grace
Big Idea: God’s grace is available to all who respond.
Question for Discussion: This parable shows that saying yes to God is about more than just showing up. It’s about being transformed. What’s one way you’ve seen God work in a transformational way in your own life? Are there any areas in your life where you want Him to make this kind of change?

Our hope is that the discussion questions provided above might lead your family to open conversations about what it looks like to better understand the key truths that Jesus wanted His followers to understand. As always, please feel free to reach out if you ever have any questions!

New Series Incoming!

God doesn't want us to avoid conflict, but to handle it in a way that shines Jesus.

This four-week series will help students learn that our role as Christ-followers isn’t necessarily to avoid conflict, it’s to resolve conflict in a healthy, respectful way.

Session 1: What is Reconciliation?
Big Idea: We can pursue reconciliation, because Jesus pursued us first.

Session 2: Live at Peace
Big Idea: If it is at all possible, live at peace with everybody.

Session 3: Confrontation
Big Idea: When you need to confront, Jesus shows the way.

Session 4: When All Else Fails
Big Idea: When all else fails, Jesus is still good!
