Dear Devotees,

With a heavy heart, we will have to cancel tomorrow’s Ugadi celebration at Fuquay Varina Middle School, due to limitations with the procession/ceremonial expectations of the event at the venue. While we will not be able to conduct a communal celebration in the start of β€œKrodi Naama” year, we are working diligently on organizing and rescheduling this event for a more flexible and vibrant celebration!

Please do follow our Facebook, Whatsapp group to be informed, and our deepest sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused. Thank you so much for your understanding, patience and continued support!

Sincerely,
Board Members – Sri Siddhi Vinayaka Temple of NC

Pitru Tarpanam is a sacred ritual performed in Hindu tradition to honor and appease one's ancestors..

It is believed that performing this ritual brings peace to the departed souls and brings forth blessings for the living.

Here are a few steps on how to perform Pitru Tarpanam:

1. Choose an auspicious day:
Pitru Tarpanam is usually performed on Amavasya (new moon day) or during the Pitru Paksha (a 16-lunar day period when Hindus pay homage to their ancestors).

2. Purify yourself:
Begin by taking a bath and wearing clean clothes. This act symbolizes purification and readiness for the ritual.

3. Set up the ritual space:
Choose a quiet, clean space.
Place a small table and cover it with a clean cloth.
On it place a picture or symbol of your ancestors.

4. Invocation:
Sit facing south as it is the direction associated with ancestors.
Close your eyes and invoke your ancestors with a simple prayer.

5. Tarpanam offering:
Take some black sesame seeds, water and darbha grass in your hand.
Offer these to your ancestors while chanting the appropriate mantras.
The mantras usually include the names of three generations of ancestors from your paternal and maternal side. This depends from person to person how you invicate your ancestors..

6. Prayers and requests:
Ask your ancestors for their blessings and forgiveness for any wrongs done.
Pray for their peace and onward journey in the afterlife.

7. Conclude the ritual:
Conclude the ritual by making a final offering of water and black sesame seeds.
Thank your ancestors for their blessings and guidance.

Benefits of Pitru Tarpanam:
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Performing Pitru Tarpanam is believed to bring peace and progress in one's life.
It is said to remove ancestral karmic influences that may be hindering one's progress in life.
It also ensures that the souls of the ancestors continue their journey in the afterlife peacefully.

Ancestors hold a significant place in our lives ..
They are not just our biological predecessors but our spiritual allies.
Our ancestors through their karma can influence our lives in profound ways.
They can bestow wisdom, strengths, talents and blessings upon us.
However they can also pass on unresolved issues and unfulfilled desires.
There is deep emphasis on the importance of ancestral healing which involves acknowledging and honoring our ancestors understanding and resolving the karmic patterns they may have passed on and seeking their guidance and blessings.
This healing process is not just about liberating ourselves from the chains of the past but also about forging a deep connection with those who came before us.
It's about understanding that we are part of a continuum, a lineage that stretches back into the mists of time.

In this way Pitru Tarpanam becomes more than just a ritual.
It becomes a means of communication with our ancestors, a way of acknowledging their presence in our lives and a method of healing ancestral wounds.
By performing this ritual we not only pay homage to our ancestors but also seek their guidance and blessings for our spiritual growth.

Our ancestors can act as intermediaries between us and the divine..
They can help us connect with the divine forces that animate the natural world.
Therefore, honoring our ancestors through rituals like Pitru Tarpanam is not just about remembering the past but also about creating a better future.
