In this, the last moments of my appointment to serve as the Baltimore Metropolitan District Superintendent in the United Methodist Church, I give God praise for the honor and privilege of having walked alongside the congregations, clergy, and communities of this sacred vineyard for eight blessed years. We have weathered literal storms, a global health crisis, natural disasters, financial challenges, disaffiliations, and personal grief, loss, sickness, and injustice....AND through it all we have experienced the power of RESURRECTION! By that blessed power - WITH GOD AND TOGETHER - we have also worshipped, preached, taught, learned, grown, discipled, been discipled, advocated, visited, clothed, fed, supported, studied, reported, laughed, and most of all...praised and glorified GOD! The Lord has been faithful even (and especially) in my moments of failure, fear, fatigue, and testing of faith. Thanks to each and every person who has been along for the ride, and WHAT A RIDE it has been...from the beginnings of ministry at Judah Praise Temple under the mentorship and tutelage of the late Pastor T. Tyrone Greene who first saw the call, to ministry in the AME Church under the leadership of the incomparable Rev. Dr. Ann Lightner Fuller, to my first pastoral appointment at Monroe Street United Methodist Church, to full time appointment at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Baltimore, MD...and then thanks to Bishop LaTrelle Easterling - BWC Bishop for taking a chance on one of Baltimore's own as DS in the home town that I love. LOOK AT GOD! As our conference is restructured, and ministry takes new shape, I am excited about my own reWIRING as a coach, preacher, facilitator, poet, and author under the banner Spoken by Duckett. The back burner items are moving forward. Family, travel, and rest will have their rightful and joyous place. My prayer and benediction is that we all KEEP GETTIN' UP so that others too might rise and embrace the abundant life Jesus promises and fulfill thier purpose in God. Leaving nothing on the table but GRACE & GRATITUDE, which I also carry with me and pray for you. God's name be praised!!! Duckett reWIRED!!!

📢 Restructuring for a Stronger Ministry

Big changes are on the horizon! Starting July 1, 2025, our organization is reshaping for a more collaborative and impactful ministry. We’re excited to introduce Collaborative Hubs—groups of 5-12 congregations coming together to create a shared vision and amplify their impact! 🙌✨

This change is about more than just structure; it's about creating stronger relationships, empowering communities, and working together for a more vibrant future.

What are you most excited about as we move toward this new chapter?

Greetings Baltimore Metro District. Please see here a late-breaking invitation from our Quaker siblings. A group of the faithful have been on a 300 mile walk from New York City to Washington D.C. called The Quaker Walk to Washington: An Interfaith Pilgrimage for Migrant Solidarity and Universal Freedoms. The walkers will be in Baltimore this weekend and would love to invite congregations in the Baltimore Metropolitan area to join us on Sunday where there will be a series of events including a dinner potluck at the First UU Baltimore (see flyer for details).

Recently featured in AP News, this walk was inspired partly by the DHS lawsuit in which Quakers ended up joining to stand up against the efforts to have ICE allowed into houses of worship.

The goal of this three-week walk is to invite faith communities and concerned neighbors across the country to stand in unity with migrants and all individuals who are being unfairly and unconstitutionally targeted by this administration, to defend democracy, and send a message about our shared humanity. Upon reaching Washington D.C. on May 22nd, walkers will deliver the historic Flushing Remonstrance petition, a document considered the direct precursor to the Bill of Rights, along with specific demands to Congressional leaders.

WHEN & WHERE

Sunday, May 18: Starts at 11 am at Stony Run Friends Meeting and will make stops along the way. Potluck at 6pm at the First UU Baltimore. See flyer attached for more details. For a full walk schedule, click here: https://www.quakerwalk2025.org/schedule
