This morning in Sunday School we did something a little different. We had a trivia lesson, based on numbers. In true "when am I ever gonna use this" fashion, math teachers your welcome, we combined a lesson, math, trivia, and competition lol

With a "The Price Is Right" style, we looked at how many number of books are in the old and new testaments, how many chapters, and how many verses; and a few other trivia questions. We then worked on a suduko styled puzzle with some of our numbers.

Our lesson, focused on the rose. 🌹
Just like a rose planted in the garden, our souls are meant to thrive in -Son-light. A rose stands best in the morning sunlight. Then, as the day passes and the sun moves and the shade comes, the rose begins to weaken just a bit. It begins to stretch and thin as it strives to reach the sunlight.

A rose planted in the shade will loose its bright green leaf color, it's blooms being a lesser vibrance and fullness. If not enough direct sunlight a rose will begin to wilt. 🥀 A rose does not produce its own energy, it merely opens up to the sunlight given freely to it.

We discussed how that matches our walk as Christians. We can not produce our own spiritual joy, peace, understanding. We often face dark storms and trials, yet just like a rose, we must keep reaching upward. We can live in the sunlight all day long, but will never bloom properly until we avoid the shade of self reliance and step into the sonlight.

When you tell a bunch of Baptist women to clean out and fill a dumpster, boy they get to it. 😆 Classrooms, offices, library, storage rooms, bathrooms, sanctuary, it was divide and conquer lol Men even got the steeple, look at that baby shine. ✨ After all the work was done, Mrs. Kayla even took on the duty of pressure washing shoes, cause ain't nobody bringing dirty shoes up in her just cleaned church 😆 Kidding. . .

Seriously, thank you to everyone for putting in the work, and for being the hands and feet of Jesus. We look forward to seeing y'all Sunday. 😃✝️

Thank you to those who made it out tonight, we hope everyone had a good time in the Lord's house. Tonight, at least for our Jr's, we examined how Paul ran his race well while in prison and the differences in the two thieves on the cross. We then continued work on our car designs and details for our upcoming derby. Which brings us to our update.

Apparently, Hobby Lobby no longer carries the kits or materials needed for the Pinewood Derby races. So. . . we will have to order the needed materials online. So we will get an order in during the next few days and once everything comes in, set a date to work on our vehicles.

Right now we are discussing meeting Tuesday evenings or Saturday evenings, again we will have more details to come. We hope everyone had a great time tonight, and we pray you have a blessed rest of your week. We invite everyone back Sunday at 9 am for Sunday school, and 10 am for morning service. 😃✝️

What a night!! Awesome game of volleyball, youths are getting much better in their sportsmanship. Class went well with all I hear, participation and a few deep questions/topics asked. Not only are they engaging they are willingly inquiring further. Very proud of everyone tonight and again, had a great night.

The sign up list for the Worthy Derby was started tonight, so if your child would like to design, build, and then race a wooden car in the derby, please make sure they get with a member of the youth staff to get their name on the list for a starter kit.

Good morning y'all! I hope you know what day it is and are looking forward to tonight's service! We will have a sign up list tonight for those wishing to enter into the derby race this Fall. Cars will only be purchased for those who sign up, so make sure to get your names down. 🏎️🏁🏆

Reminder of some of our upcoming events:
5th Sunday Night Service- Our youths will be running the night service on 8/30/26. We encourage everyone to come out and support them.

Saturday 9/5/26- We will be having a work day at the church at 7 am. All abled hands on duty. Lol

Saturday 9/12/26- We have a visitation day planned. So those wishing to be part of that expect to be visiting some of the community, as well as those in the community, expect a knocking on your door. Lol
Then later that afternoon, ladies will have their women's meeting. Ladies be sure to come out for that.

9/26/26- Hopewell will be having a Gospel Singing. We invite the community to come out for a fun night together in the Lord's house. Music, fellowship, and finger foods after. All are welcomed to come out and enjoy.

We didn't get a lot of pictures tonight, but there was a lot going on. Lol We were glad to see so many gathered tonight, glad to see some new faces, and hope everyone had a good time. Just a heads up to our parents, we are in the process of planning a derby race for our youths. A paper should have came home with your child tonight for them to begin drawing out a design for their car.

We have a wooden race track that has been loaned to us from another church. Our goal is to set a date (to be determined), and we will have work days on Saturdays leading up to that date to meet at the church and build our cars. Cars will consist of a starter kit pictured below, which includes a block of wood, and four tires. That and paint is all that will be provided.

The youths will have to design their car, cut/sand it down to shape, paint/decorate their car, and we will race the finished cars on race day. Prizes will be given for things such as:
Fastest car, most detailed, etc. etc. If your youth would like to participate, a sign up sheet will be made soon. We encourage all of our youths to take part in this.

Reminder that 5th Sundays are youth Sundays, so our night service on 8/30/26 will be brought by our youth. We encourage everyone to come out and support our kiddos. We look forward to seeing everyone in the Lord's house again next week, and hope everyone has a blessed week.

Look out now, we have some potential volleyball players on our hands, that game was getting serious at the end. We hope everyone had a good time in the Lord's house tonight and we pray everyone enjoys the rest of their week. Reminder men and young male youths, we have our next Brotherhood service this Saturday at 5:30 pm. We will be having BBQ. All men are welcomed to join us. Then, we will all be back Sunday and invite everyone to join us for normal church service. Thank you to everyone for all you do. Good Bless ✝️

Thank you to everyone who came tonight. Excuse the lights being off, those suckers throw heat and it was hot enough without them lol. Youths broke in a new volleyball net tonight after class. We hope everyone had a fun night, as we pray up and prepare for school to start back soon. Lots of exciting things to come, so we hope everyone is ready to run with it. 😃 Have a blessed week. - H. B.
