1. Rebuilding the walls and gates of the northern section

A. Eliashib the high priest started to rebuild the walls. Nehemiah 3:1

B. People from Jericho worked next to them with Zaccur son of Imri following them. Nehemiah 3:2

C. The Fish Gate was built by the sons of Hassenaah. Nehemiah 3:3

D. Meremoth repaired the next section of the wall. Nehemiah 3:4a

E. Followed by Meshullam then Zadok. Nehemiah 3:4b

F. Next were the people from Tekoa. Nehemiah 3:5

2. The work done on the walls and gates on the western side

A. The Old City Gate was repaired by Joiada and Meshullam. Nehemiah 3:6

B. Next to them Melatiah, Jadon, people from Gibeon, people from Mizpah. Nehemiah 3:7

C. Next was Uzziel, beyond him was Hananiah. Nehemiah 3:8

D. Rephaiah was next to them on the wall. Nehemiah 3:9

E. Next Jedaiah and next to him was Hattush. Nehemiah 3:10

F. Then came Malkijah and Hasshub. Nehemiah 3:11

G. The next section was repaired by Shallum and his daughters. Nehemiah 3:12

H. Valley Gate was repaired by people from Zanoah led by Hanun. Nehemiah 3:13

2. Nehemiah kept things secret from the leaders.

A. Nehemiah kept his inspection and rebuilding plans secret. Nehemiah 2:16

B. Nehemiah reminds them of the trouble they are in. Nehemiah 2:17a

C. Nehemiah challenges them to rebuild the wall of Jerusalem and end the disgrace. Nehemiah 2:17b

3. Nehemiah reveals what God has done.

C. The king asked, “How can I help you?” Nehemiah 2:4

2. Nehemiah’s response to the king

A. He desires to go to Judah to rebuild the city. Nehemiah 2:5

B. Details are worked out, and the king agrees to the request. Nehemiah 2:6

C. Letters requested for safe travel on the way. Nehemiah 2:7

A. He was in the Persian king’s winter palace. Nehemiah 1:1

B. Fellow countrymen came to visit Nehemiah who asked how things were going in Jerusalem. Nehemiah 1:2

C. The men reported what was happening in Jerusalem. Nehemiah 1:3

2. Nehemiah’s response to what he heard

A. What he did lasted for about four months. Nehemiah 1:4

B. Nehemiah reminds God of His covenant and love for those who obey His commands. Nehemiah 1:5

3. Nehemiah remembers God’s curse on sin and promised forgiveness.
