🌱 FCA RECAP | NO CONDEMNATION IN CHRIST

GUILT, CONVICTION & THE FREEDOM OF THE GOSPEL ✝️

Have you ever messed up and felt so ashamed that you wanted to hide from God?

This week, our very own IAHS Soccer Coach and FCA Sponsor, Randy Earnest, challenged us to understand the difference between guilt that keeps us stuck in shame and godly conviction that moves us toward repentance and a changed life.

📖 Romans 8:1 says, “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”

We all sin. We all fall short. But our sin doesn’t have to define us, and shame doesn’t have to keep us hiding from God.

Think about Adam and Eve. After they sinned, they hid from God. Think about Paul, who persecuted Christians before encountering Jesus and becoming a servant of the gospel. Think about David, who struggled under the weight of his unconfessed sin before acknowledging it before God.

Their stories remind us that we must stop hiding, take ownership of our sin, and turn toward God.

❤️ Guilt says, “I messed up, so I need to hide.”

✝️ Godly conviction says, “I sinned, I need to repent, and I need to turn back to God.”

Jesus didn’t come to save people who had everything figured out. He came to save sinners! Through His death and resurrection, He defeated sin and death and made forgiveness and new life possible for those who trust in Him.

The law could reveal our sin, but it couldn’t save us. What we could never accomplish on our own, God accomplished through Jesus Christ.

And grace doesn’t give us permission to keep living in sin. It frees us to walk in a new way—not according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.

📖 2 Peter 1:5–7 reminds us to grow in faith, goodness, knowledge, self-control, endurance, godliness, brotherly affection, and love.

So what do we do when we mess up?

✅ Take ownership instead of making excuses.
✅ Confess our sin instead of hiding in shame.
✅ Receive God’s forgiveness instead of remaining trapped in our past.
✅ Keep growing and walking in obedience to Christ.

God doesn’t want you stuck in shame. He calls you to repentance, forgiveness, freedom, and growth.

Ask yourself this week:

* Am I hiding from God because of something I’ve done?
* Am I making excuses, or am I taking responsibility?
* Is God’s conviction moving me toward repentance and Christlikeness?

Remember: There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. Your sin is serious, but God’s grace is greater—and His grace teaches us to walk in a new life.

A huge thank-you to Coach Randy Earnest, our IAHS Soccer Coach and FCA Sponsor, for sharing God’s Word and challenging our students to take ownership, walk in the Spirit, and live in the freedom Christ provides!

And thank you to Kent Heating & Air for providing breakfast and supporting our FCA students! 🙌

WHO IS YOUR IDENTITY IN?

This week at FCA, Bro. Jackson Baer from Connect Church challenged us to look at where we find our identity.

Our school.
Our sports.
Our grades.
Our friendships.
Our family.
Our relationships.
Social media.

All of these things can be good—but none of them were created to define us.

📖 In Ephesians 1, Paul repeatedly reminds believers who they are “in Christ.”

In Christ, we are:

✨ Blessed with every spiritual blessing
✨ Chosen and made holy
✨ Redeemed and forgiven
✨ Given an inheritance
✨ Sealed with the Holy Spirit
✨ Given hope for eternity

So instead of constantly focusing on everything we think we need to do to be a better Christian, we should first remember what Christ has already done for us.

Jesus died for our sin, gave us new life, and made a way for us to belong to Him.

Our identity doesn’t come from what we accomplish.
It comes from who we belong to.

When Christ becomes our identity, it changes the way we live.

Maybe your sport conflicts with church.
Maybe a relationship is pulling you away from God.
Maybe friends are influencing your choices.
Maybe you’re constantly comparing yourself to others.

The question becomes:

Who am I going to let define me?

📖 Ephesians 1:15–19 records Paul’s prayer that the eyes of their hearts would be enlightened so they could understand the hope of God’s calling, the riches of His inheritance, and the greatness of His power toward those who believe.

Don’t just try harder to follow the rules.

Know Jesus.
Know what He has done.
Know who you are IN HIM.
And let that identity change the way you live.

❤️ You are not your sport.
❤️ You are not your grades.
❤️ You are not your relationship status.
❤️ You are not your past.

If you belong to Christ, your identity is IN CHRIST.

A huge thank-you to Bro. Jackson Baer from Connect Church for bringing this message and challenging our students to find their identity in Christ!

And thank you to Connect Church for sponsoring breakfast and investing in our students! 🙌

🌱 KNOW CHRIST.
KNOW WHO YOU ARE.
LIVE FROM THAT IDENTITY.

FOLLOWING JESUS COSTS SOMETHING

Youth leader, Noah Dill, from Fulton Free Will Baptist Church challenged the students at FCA to start asking difficult questions⁉️

What does it really look like to follow Jesus?

📖 Isaiah 55:8–9 reminds us that God’s ways and thoughts are higher than ours.

Following Christ begins with recognizing that God knows better than we do. His way may not always be the way we would choose—but we can trust Him.

Jesus said:

📖 Luke 9:23–24
“If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.”

Following Jesus means denying ourselves, taking up our cross, and following Him daily.

That can mean making difficult choices.

Choosing Christ over a friendship.
Choosing obedience over a temptation.
Choosing God’s will over our own plans.
Giving up something we enjoy because we know it doesn’t honor Him.
Standing for Christ when it makes us feel isolated.

Everyone wants to be strong, but no one wants to be sore.

The same can be true spiritually. We want to reflect the image of Christ, but becoming more like Christ requires sacrifice, discipline, surrender, and obedience.

And here’s the important part:

You don’t have to be perfect to follow Jesus.

We will stumble. We will fail. We will have days when we don’t reflect Christ the way we should.

But don’t let your failures convince you that you have no right to follow Jesus or share the Gospel.

Instead, get back up and keep following Him.

The question isn’t:

“Am I a perfect Christian?”

It’s:

“Am I willing to surrender my life to Christ and follow Him today?”

🌱 Don’t wait until you’re older.
Don’t wait until you’re out of high school.
Don’t wait until you have everything figured out.

Start today.

Every day is another opportunity to deny yourself, take up your cross, and follow Jesus.

✝️ FOLLOW HIM.
TRUST HIS WAY.
MAKE THE SACRIFICE.
REFLECT CHRIST.

What does someone see when they look at your life?

Do they see you—or do they see Jesus?

Special thank you to Itawamba Christian Church for sponsoring breakfast! ❤️

GOD IS FAITHFUL

This week at FCA, Bro. Tim Holsonback from MPBC talked about the faithfulness of God—and what it looks like for us to be faithful to Him.

📖 Isaiah 46:3–4 reminds us that God has carried His people, and He promises, “I will carry you and will save you.”

God is faithful to His Word, His promises, and His people.

That’s why we praise Him. 🙌

But how is our faithfulness toward God?

📖 1 Corinthians 4:2
“Moreover it is required in stewards that one be found faithful.”

A steward is someone entrusted with responsibility over something that belongs to another. As believers, everything we have belongs to God—including our lives and our bodies.

📖 1 Corinthians 6:19–20 reminds us that we were bought with a price.

So what has God entrusted to us, and how are we being faithful with it?

❤️ FAITHFUL IN THE SAINTLY THINGS

📖 Hebrews 10:25

Are we making time for God a priority? Are we faithful in church attendance, youth group, serving, singing, and using our gifts to encourage others?

Give God your time. He deserves our priority.

🌱 FAITHFUL IN THE SMALL THINGS

📖 Luke 16:10

Little things can make a huge difference.

Are we being faithful to kindness, encouragement, prayer, and building others up instead of tearing them down?

📖 1 Thessalonians 5:11
“Therefore encourage one another and build one another up…”

🗣️ FAITHFUL IN THE SAID THINGS

📖 Colossians 4:6

Our words should be filled with grace and seasoned with salt.

Grace is kindness and goodness.

📖 James 3:10 reminds us that blessing and cursing should not come from the same mouth.

How are you doing with the words you speak?
Would your speech reflect someone who belongs to Jesus?

🤝 FAITHFUL IN THE SOCIAL THINGS

📖 Proverbs 13:20
“Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise…”

Who are you spending time with? Friends? Teammates? Classmates?

Are you the same person everywhere you go?

Would your friends be surprised to find out you are a Christian—or would they see Christ in the way you live?

And what about dating relationships and social media? Are we being faithful in the way we treat others, communicate, and represent Jesus?

🔒 FAITHFUL IN THE SECRET THINGS

📖 Psalm 139:1–4

What are you doing when no one is looking?

What are you texting, watching, or thinking about when you’re alone?

Your character is who you are when no one is looking.

But remember: you are never truly alone. God knows everything.

✝️ WHY DOES FAITHFULNESS MATTER?

📖 Hebrews 11:6
“Without faith it is impossible to please Him…”

Our desire should be to please God with our lives.

And Scripture reminds us that our faithfulness matters—not because we earn salvation by our works, but because what we do with the life God has given us matters.

📖 Matthew 25:21
“Well done, good and faithful servant…”

God also blesses us as we walk in obedience to Him. The Beatitudes in Matthew 5 remind us of the blessings that come from living under God’s kingdom.

🌱 THE CHARGE

Hear the Word.
Meditate on it.
“Chew” on it.
Think about it.

Then ask yourself:

Am I being faithful?

📖 James 1:22
“But be doers of the word, and not hearers only…”

God is faithful.
Are we being faithful to Him?
