Self-Realization Fellowship Fullerton Temple Spiritual seekers are welcome to gather at Self-Realization Fellowship Fullerton for group meditation

Spiritual seekers are welcome to gather at the Self-Realization Fellowship Fullerton Temple for group meditations, inspirational lectures, and spiritual fellowship. Our group meditations offer an opportunity to join in silent fellowship reinforcing one another’s efforts toward Self-Realization. Each meditation service is led by an experienced instructor who will guide you through periods of silent meditation for 30-45 minutes in length, separated by short periods of devotional chanting and inspirational readings. Lecture services are open to the public and all are welcome. Lecture services are led by monastics of the Self-Realization Order, with topics based on the teachings of Paramahansa Yogananda. Services include periods of devotional chanting, silent meditation, and prayer. The Fullerton Temple is a branch of Self-Realization Fellowship (SRF), the international spiritual and humanitarian organization founded in 1920 by Paramahansa Yogananda, author of the spiritual classic “Autobiography of a Yogi.” SRFs International Headquarters are located in Los Angeles, California.

If you are able to free yourself from all kinds of bad habits, and if you are able to do good because you want to do good and not merely because evil brings sorrow, then you are truly progressing in Spirit.

Do not continue to live in the same old way. Make up your mind to do something to improve your life, and then do it. Change your consciousness; that is all that is necessary.

It is only when you discard your bad habits that you are really a free man. Until you are a true master, able to command yourself to do the things that you should do but may not want to do, you are not a free soul. In that power of self-control lies the seed of eternal freedom.

True freedom consists of performing all actions --eating, reading, working, and so forth—in accordance with right judgment and choice of will, not in being compelled by habits. Eat what you should eat and not necessarily what you are used to. Do what you ought to do, not what your bad habits dictate.

Habits of thought are mental magnets that draw to you certain things, people, and conditions. Weaken a bad habit by avoiding everything that occasioned it or stimulated it, without concentrating upon it in your zeal to avoid it. Then divert your mind to some good habit and steadily cultivate it until it becomes a dependable part of you.

Be careful what you choose to do consciously, for unless your will is very strong, that is what you may have to do repeatedly and compulsively through the habit influencing power of the subconscious mind.

Through difficult daily lessons you will sometime see clearly that bad habits nourish the tree of unending material desires, whereas good habits nourish the tree of spiritual aspirations. More and more you should concentrate your efforts on successfully maturing the spiritual tree, that you may someday gather the ripe fruit of Self-realization.

A bad habit can be quickly changed. A habit is the result of concentration of the mind. You have been thinking in a certain way. To form a new and good habit, just concentrate in the opposite direction.

Good and bad habits both take time to acquire force. Powerful bad habits can be displaced by opposite good habits if the latter are patiently cultivated.
