On November 7 from 9:30 AM - 3:00 PM at Pacific Beach Christian Church (in San Diego), Dr. Frank Rogers, Jr. will lead an experiential workshop exploring the spiritual dimensions of trauma recovery based in part on his award-winning book "Cradled in the Arms of Compassion: A Spiritual Journey from Trauma to Recovery."

Who is this workshop for? It will be especially helpful for those who have known trauma, and for those who companion survivors as pastors, chaplains, mental health practitioners, spiritual directors, and caring allies. In other words, you!

THIS IS A RARE OPPORTUNITY to experience the insight, story-telling, wisdom, contemplative practices, and (most importantly) the deep spiritual presence of Dr. Rogers.

And in addition to meeting our own needs, we all know people who need to take the next step on the road to trauma recovery and people who long to accompany them in meaningful and impactful ways. Please invite these beloved ones to join on November 7 for a life-shifting encounter.

This workshop provides 0.5 CEUs to Disciples of Christ clergy in the PSWR. The same 5 contact hours of CEUs are available for those who are not PSWR clergy through Claremont School of Theology.

Thank you to the students who joined DSF for dinner last Thursday ahead of the PSWR Regional Assembly! Dr. LaTaunya “Toni” Bynum prepares for retirement, Disciples Seminary Foundation invites the community to celebrate her decades of ministry and leadership by supporting the newly established Rev. A former DSF board member and ordained minister in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) since 1980, Toni has served in pastoral, regional, and general ministry leadership. Preparing for Sabbatical: A Workshop for Clergy

A sabbatical can be a transformative season of rest, renewal, and discernment, but preparing for it takes intentional planning. On November 2 at 1:00 p.m. PT, DSF students and clergy are invited to join for Preparing for Sabbatical, a workshop designed to offer practical guidance for those considering or preparing for this important season.
The workshop will explore the Lilly Endowment Clergy Renewal Program, including who can apply, what the program funds, and how to navigate the application process. Participants will also receive practical guidance for preparing to step away from congregational leadership, including communicating with church leadership, preparing family and personal plans, establishing healthy boundaries, and helping a congregation understand the purpose and value of a sabbatical.
The conversation will also address preparing a congregation for a pastor’s absence and return, including incorporating sabbatical language into pastoral agreements, communicating the “why” of a sabbatical, sharing the sabbatical experience with the congregation, and finding a healthy rhythm for returning to pastoral leadership.
Most importantly, the workshop will create space to consider why sabbatical matters for clergy and how intentional boundaries before, during, and after a sabbatical can support healthy, sustainable pastoral leadership. This workshop is offered free through the DSF Collective. Workshop presenters include: Rev. Alicia Speidel (DSF/PSR graduate, M.Div./2002), Rev. Last week, DSF staff enjoyed a wonderful evening of dinner and conversation with Gloria Carr (CST/M.Div. student) and Rev. Clint Collins, CST’s Director of Educational & Information Technologies. It was a great opportunity to spend time together, catch up, and enjoy fellowship beyond the classroom.

One of the joys of the DSF community is staying connected with students and alumni as they pursue their studies, serve their communities, and follow new paths in ministry and leadership.
