Dealing with Faith and doubt

Mark 11:21-23

Romans 10:17 - we can't just drum up faith whenever, it comes from hearing and knowing the word of God

James 1:5-8 -Doubt can have an impact

mark 9:14-29 - story of a man who brought son to be freed from demons.

mark 9:24 - we can have faith +unbelief at same time. the father says Lord I believe but help me with my unbelief.

Jesus says some spirits only come out with prayer and fasting. prayer and fasting doesn't change the name of Jesus or the power it has but it does connect us closer to the holy Spirit and help with our doubt.

doubt comes from our five senses. they could see the boy rolling around and foaming. they could hear the sounds. prayer and fasting help connect you to the holy Spirit so you see spiritual things rather than the physical.

fasting puts away the flesh

tarry- to spend time or to abide in the word and with prayer.
luke 22:34-46

operating in the spiritual gifts. when someone has a word or you yourself it helps take away that doubt

We hear and see things everyday. our culture wants us to believe lies about ourself and other everyday, but God wants to renew our minds to his plan and how he sees people.

Do We Know We Have An Advocate

John chapters 14-16

John 14:16-17 - Jesus was with disciples taking care of their needs and teaching them, but now would be gone, he promised to send an advocate.

Advocate illustration- a group of people were trying to translate the Bible into an African tribes language but could not figure a word for advocate. one day while watching the tribesmen carry their goods to market he notices one man carrying nothing. he figured he was the boss, but asked the people. they said if a man falls, gets tired, gets hurt, he follows them to pick up the pieces and carry the rest of the way-- that's what an advocate is.

John 16:9 - all sin comes from not believing in Jesus. if we truly believe, we live differently.

John 16:10-11 - Sin +Satan have no power because of Jesus dying on the cross and him sending the advocate / holy Spirit.

John 20:21-22 - Disciples didn't experience a salvation until this verse . it says Jesus breathed on them... every time Jesus/God breathed on the it's was talking about giving life!

Getting ready for Mother's day. Service starts at 10:30. There will be some treats as well as an ice coffee station put on by our "Kids in the upper room " kids church. As well as a photo area to take photos together. Bring your families and join us to celebrate all the mom's.

Thriving in the storm. 4/13/26

know that God is present and sees you.
- what you see in chaos isn't what God sees in clarity.

He didnt walk on water looking for the disciples and the boat lost in the water. the Bible said he walked towards them on the water

- fear may cloud your your vision but it doesn't remove God's presence

- Storms aren't set backs they are chances to obey.

- storms pull you out of your comfort and into encounter

We give Peter so much grief about his fear and sinking into the water. Jesus even said you of little faith. the truth is besides Jesus, Peter is the only person in history to ever walk on water. let your storm become an encounter with Jesus that you never expected or would have ever experienced if not for the storm!
