Good morning, brothers and sisters. Our scripture today is:
2 Corinthians 1:17-20 New Living Translation
You may be asking why I changed my plan. Do you think I make my plans carelessly? Do you think I am like people of the world who say “Yes” when they really mean “No”? 18) As surely as God is faithful, our word to you does not waver between “Yes” and “No.”
19) For Jesus Christ, the Son of God, does not waver between “Yes” and “No.” He is the one whom Silas, Timothy, and I preached to you, and as God’s ultimate “Yes,” he always does what he says.
20) For all of God’s promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding “Yes!” And through Christ, our “Amen” (which means “Yes”) ascends to God for his glory.

And why should we ourselves risk our lives hour by hour?
31) For I swear, dear brothers and sisters, that I face death daily. This is as certain as my pride in what Christ Jesus our Lord has done in you.
32) And what value was there in fighting wild beasts—those people of Ephesus—if there will be no resurrection from the dead? And if there is no resurrection, “Let’s feast and drink, for tomorrow we die!”
33) Don’t be fooled by those who say such things, for “bad company corrupts good character.”
34) Think carefully about what is right, and stop sinning. For to your shame I say that some of you don’t know God at all.

Wounds from a sincere friend
are better than many kisses from an enemy.
7) A person who is full refuses honey,
but even bitter food tastes sweet to the hungry.
8) A person who strays from home
is like a bird that strays from its nest.
9) The heartfelt counsel of a friend
is as sweet as perfume and incense.
10) Never abandon a friend—
either yours or your father’s.
When disaster strikes, you won’t have to ask your brother for assistance.
It’s better to go to a neighbor than to a brother who lives far away.
