Lesson 8 Recap (a long one, but a good one!!!)

Central Idea: Purpose to Live for the Lord and Leave Your Life in His Hands

In lesson 8, we were reminded that no matter what circumstances we face, we can choose to make knowing and loving God our greatest purpose. Daniel's life was far from what he likely would have chosen, yet through captivity, hardship, and uncertainty, he remained faithful.

Rather than allowing his circumstances to produce bitterness or resentment, he kept his focus on the Lord. We cannot always control what happens to us, but we can choose what comes from the pressing.

In Daniel 6, we see three examples that challenge us to examine our own hearts. The satraps were consumed by envy, allowing their desire for Daniel's position and recognition to lead them toward deception and destruction. King Darius fell victim to flattery, allowing the praise of others to cloud his judgment and put Daniel in danger. Daniel, however, remained steadfast in his faith, choosing obedience and trusting God even when it led him into the lions' den.

Their examples challenge us to consider what motivates our own lives. Are we allowing comparison, discontentment, or the desire for approval to distract us from God's purpose? Or are we choosing, like Daniel, to make knowing Him our greatest priority? Philippians 3:10 reminds us to make knowing God our determined purpose. To know Him is to love Him, and to love Him is to obey Him. When loving God becomes our first priority, He gives us the strength to stand firm, even when we find ourselves surrounded by the lions of this world.

Daniel's deliverance reminds us of God's power and faithfulness, but true faith isn't dependent on the outcome. God may not always rescue us from our trials in the way we hope, but we can trust that He sees us, loves us, and is working all things together for our good and His glory. He is the Author and Perfecter of our faith, and His handwriting is on every page of our stories. Our trials are temporary, but what He is accomplishing through them has eternal significance.

Challenge: Will you make it your life's purpose to know Him so deeply that you can trust Him with the outcome?

A verse to meditate on as we strive to become women of valor and bravery, who live like Daniel with a single minded focus on our God who is the author and perfecter of our faith.

When you are found in Him, you will have the strength that you need to live in a Daniel world ~ among roaring lions ~ because you have prioritized your life in such a way that loving Him first is your motivating factor, your determined purpose.

Spurgeon said, “I want to know the man who thus gave himself for me. I want to behold the Lamb once slain for me... Do not be satisfied with thinking you know him; hoping you know him, but know him… The more I know of Christ, the more I shall want to know.”

Lesson 7 Recap

💡Central Idea: God Opposes the Proud but Gives Grace to the Humble

In lesson 7, we were reminded that God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. King Belshazzar believed his kingdom was unshakable, yet he failed to recognize that only God’s kingdom stands forever.

Despite knowing how God had humbled Nebuchadnezzar, Belshazzar chose pride over reverence, reminding us of the danger of ignoring God’s grace and forgetting His faithfulness.

Through the fall of Babylon, we see that God’s plans and timing are perfect, even when circumstances make it seem otherwise. The things of this world—power, wealth, and recognition—are temporary, but God’s kingdom is eternal. Rather than placing our confidence in earthly things or our own abilities, we are called to trust God’s sovereignty, seek Him first, and invest in what lasts forever.

God is patient, merciful, and full of grace, but He also calls us to acknowledge His authority and turn from our pride. True wisdom begins with reverence for the Lord, recognizing that He alone is King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

Challenge: Will we choose to repent of our pride and live humbly before Him?

Lesson 6 Recap🌳

In lesson 6, we were reminded that the Most High rules. Through King Nebuchadnezzar’s dream and eventual humbling, God revealed that He alone sits on the throne. Just like Nebuchadnezzar, we can quickly forget God’s goodness, faithfulness, and power when we become focused on ourselves or our circumstances.

Even in judgment, God demonstrated His compassion and mercy, giving Nebuchadnezzar opportunities to repent. When the king finally lifted his eyes toward heaven, he acknowledged God’s authority and experienced restoration. His story reminds us that our help comes from above and that God is patient, loving, and always in control.

Trials will come, and our circumstances may shake us, but God remains unshaken. We can find joy and confidence in knowing that the One who rules over all things is good, faithful, and loves us.

The challenge for us is this: Will we choose to acknowledge that the Most High rules, even when life feels out of control?

This week, we saw what it looks like to have faith tested by fire. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego knew that God was able to save them, but their faith wasn’t dependent on the outcome. Even if He didn’t rescue them, they would still trust Him and refuse to bow.

They may not have understood what the hand of God allowed, but they trusted His heart. Their confidence wasn’t based on their circumstances or feelings—it was rooted in who they knew God to be: powerful, wise, good, and present.

Isaiah 41:10 reminds us, “Fear not, for I am with you. Do not be afraid, for I am your God” Our courage isn’t based on our performance, but on His presence. The challenge for us is the same: Can we trust God’s heart even when we don’t understand or agree with what His hand is doing?

💡Central Idea: Trust God’s plan in the fire even when things heat up.

Last week, we were reminded that we serve the God of the impossible. As the weight of Daniel’s circumstances grew heavier, he didn’t panic or try to carry it alone. He surrounded himself with like-minded people, went to the Lord in prayer, and trusted the One who had the power to change his circumstances.

When God answered, Daniel praised Him, showed grace to others, and gave God all the credit. His example reminds us that when trials come, we can thank God for His provision, extend grace to others, and point everything back to Him.

Trials may get heavier, but our burdens become lighter when we give them to the Lord. God can use our pain for His glory and our trials as a testimony. The question is: Will we trust the God of the impossible, even when we cannot see, understand, or carry what is ahead?

📖 God’s Word For The Week - Daniel 2:20-22

Sometimes referred to as “Daniel’s Psalm,” our God’s Word for the week serves as a beautiful example of pausing to praise and thank God in the middle of all circumstances.

Take heart in God’s sovereignty - He did not abandon Daniel in crisis and He will not abandon you. 💜

This week, we were reminded that we can trust God in every circumstance. Nothing enters our lives without first passing through His loving hands, and the God who allowed Daniel and his friends to face uncertainty was faithful to carry them through it.

Daniel and his friends began with a small act of obedience, trusting God to provide. Their example reminds us that one step of obedience gives us courage for the next. God sees our faithfulness and will use it as a light in the darkness.

Whatever is in front of us, we can trust God, walk in obedience, and stand firm in our faith.

💡 Central Idea: God blesses us when we resolve to stand firm in our faith

Lesson 1 Recap -

This week we began our study of Daniel and Revelation with a beautiful reminder - God is coming for His beloved and He will never leave us nor forsake us.

In the coming weeks, we’ll find ourselves watching Daniel as he navigates his hostile world in a manner that pleases and honors his God so that we can learn how to do the same.

We will be encouraged as we see that two of the greatest visions for the end of times were given to two faithful witnesses who stood firm in their trials, not waiting to be delivered from them.
