Day 1: The Song That Never Gets Old

Scripture:
"O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!" (Psalm 8:1)

Devotional:
Al Venhuizen described Psalm 8 as the Christian's "Song of the Year"—not just for one year, but for every year. David begins and ends the psalm with the same declaration of praise because everything in between points back to God's greatness.
When David looked at the stars, he wasn't overwhelmed by fear or uncertainty. Instead, he was overwhelmed by worship. The beauty of creation reminded him that God is bigger than anything he faced.

We live in a world filled with endless noise competing for our attention. Yet Psalm 8 invites us to slow down and focus on the majesty of God. When we remember who God is, our worries become smaller and our worship becomes stronger.
The greatest song we can sing isn't about ourselves—it's about the greatness of our God.

Reflection:
What distractions keep you from noticing God's greatness in your daily life?

Prayer:
Lord, open my eyes to see Your majesty all around me. Help me focus less on my worries and more on Your greatness. May worship become the song of my heart each day. Amen.

Challenge:
Spend five minutes outside today observing God's creation. Thank Him for three specific things that remind you of His greatness.

Friday: Hold On to Hope

Scripture:
“The Lord dwells in Zion.” (Joel 3:21)

Devotional:
Joel ends with one incredible promise: God will dwell with His people forever.
That is the hope believers hold onto. One day every tear will be wiped away, every wound healed, and every wrong made right. God’s final word is not destruction—it is restoration.
The sermon reminded us that when life feels unstable, we can still hold on because Jesus has already won. He died, rose again, poured out His Spirit, and He will return again. Sometimes life feels exhausting. We get tired of pain, anxiety, grief, or waiting for things to change. But Joel reminds us that better days are coming.
Even when the world feels shaken, Jesus remains our firm foundation. He will not let go of His people.

So keep holding on. Joy is coming.

Reflection:
What promise from God do you need to hold onto right now?

Prayer:
Lord, help me hold onto hope when life feels difficult. Thank You that You are faithful in every season and that You promise restoration, peace, and Your presence forever. Amen.

Challenge:
Write down one promise from Scripture that encourages you and keep it somewhere you will see it

Thursday: God Is Making All Things New

Scripture:
“In that day the mountains will drip new wine, and the hills will flow with milk.” (Joel 3:18)

Devotional:
Joel begins with destruction and loss, but he ends with restoration and abundance. That is the heart of God.
God does not abandon broken things—He restores them.
Throughout Scripture, we see promises of a future where sorrow, pain, and brokenness are healed. Joel points to a day when creation itself will be renewed and life will flow from God’s presence.
Sometimes we grow tired. Tired of grief, stress, sickness, disappointment, or watching the world feel broken. But Joel reminds us that this brokenness will not last forever.
Jesus’ resurrection proves that restoration is possible. He defeated death, and one day He will make all things new.
The story does not end in devastation. It ends in restoration.

Reflection:
What area of your life do you need God’s restoration in today?

Prayer:
God, thank You that You are making all things new. Help me trust You even when life feels broken or difficult. Remind me that restoration and healing are part of Your promises. Amen.

Challenge:
Encourage someone today who may be walking through a difficult season with a reminder of God’s hope.

Wednesday: Jesus Is Our Refuge

Scripture:
“The Lord will be a refuge for his people, a stronghold for the people of Israel.” (Joel 3:16)

Devotional:
The world can feel unstable sometimes. Fear, stress, anxiety, and uncertainty can leave us feeling overwhelmed. But Joel reminds us that God is a refuge for His people.
A refuge is a safe place during a storm. The storm may still rage outside, but inside there is safety and peace.
That is who Jesus is for us.
The sermon compared this to a child running into their parents’ room during a thunderstorm. The storm has not stopped, but suddenly the child feels peace because they know they are safe.
Life’s storms may not disappear overnight, but God promises His presence in the middle of them. He remains faithful when everything else feels shaky.
Jesus is our firm foundation. He will not fail.

Reflection:
What fears or anxieties do you need to bring to Jesus today?

Prayer:
Jesus, thank You for being my refuge and strength. When life feels overwhelming, help me remember that You are with me and You will never fail me. Fill my heart with peace today. Amen.

Challenge:
Whenever anxiety rises today, pause and pray, “Jesus, You are my refuge.”

Tuesday: God Sees and Will Make Things Right

Scripture:
“I will gather all nations… and I will enter into judgment with them there.” (Joel 3:2)

Devotional:
Sometimes it feels like evil wins. People get hurt, injustice happens, and we wonder if anyone notices. But Joel reminds us that God sees everything.
The nations in Joel thought they could do whatever they wanted without consequences, but God declared that a day was coming when every wrong would be answered. Nothing escapes His attention.
This is important because when life feels unfair, we can start carrying bitterness, anger, or hopelessness. But God never asks us to carry the burden of revenge. He reminds us that justice belongs to Him.
Even when we do not understand why difficult things happen, we can trust that God is still good, still just, and still working. His timing may not always match ours, but His promises never fail.

Reflection:
What situation in your life do you need to trust God with today?

Prayer:
God, thank You that You see every hurt and every struggle. Help me trust You when life feels unfair or difficult. Remind me that You are just, faithful, and always working for good. Amen.

Challenge:
Spend a few minutes today giving your worries and frustrations to God instead of carrying them alone.

Day 5: Grateful for Grace

Scripture:
“Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.” (Psalm 107:1)

Devotional:
The service ended with a powerful reminder: “God, I’m just grateful for You.”
Gratitude changes how we see our lives. Instead of focusing only on unanswered questions or uncertain futures, gratitude reminds us of God’s faithfulness through every season.

The song declared, “You gave me chance after chance after chance.” That’s the story of grace. Even when we fail, wander, doubt, or struggle, God continues to pursue us with mercy and love.

Looking back helps us trust Him moving forward. The same God who carried you through yesterday will carry you through tomorrow.
No matter what season you’re entering next, you can walk into it with gratitude because God has been faithful every step of the way.

Reflection:
What are three ways God has been faithful to you this past year?

Prayer:
God, thank You for Your goodness, patience, and grace in my life. Help me live with a grateful heart and trust You in every new season. Amen.

Challenge:
Write down three specific things you’re grateful for today and thank God for each one.

Day 4: Jesus Walks With You

Scripture:
“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” (John 10:10)

Devotional:
One of the most encouraging truths from the sermon is this: Jesus doesn’t simply point us toward the road and tell us to figure it out alone. He walks with us.
Life can feel overwhelming. There are pressures to succeed, fear about the future, and moments where we feel like we’re failing. But Jesus came so we could experience real life—not perfect life, but full life in Him.

We all fall short. We all lean on ourselves too much sometimes. We all force doors open or ignore the doors God is inviting us through. Yet Jesus meets us with grace again and again.

His presence is what gives us strength for the journey. You never walk alone. Even when the path feels uncertain, Jesus is already there.

Reflection:
Where do you need to remember that Jesus is walking with you right now?

Prayer:
Jesus, thank You for never leaving me alone. Help me rely on Your presence instead of my own strength. Amen.

Challenge:
Spend five quiet minutes today simply talking honestly with Jesus about what’s weighing on your heart.

We have a person at our church that recently had an injury where they cannot mow their lawn. This person lives in Cambria and has their own mower. Is there someone willing to go make their lawn? Let pastor Darrin know.

Day 3: Straight Paths Are Not Always Easy

Scripture:
“He will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:6)

Devotional:
Sometimes we assume that if God is leading us, life should feel simple and comfortable. But a straight path is not the same thing as an easy path.
Following Jesus can involve disappointment, waiting, confusion, sacrifice, or difficult obedience. Yet even in those moments, God is still leading.

The sermon reminded us that God sometimes closes doors for our protection. Other times, doors only look closed because fear keeps us from trying the handle. Faith learns the difference between a locked door and a shut door.

God may ask you to step forward before you see the full picture. Like Peter stepping onto the water, faith often means moving while keeping your eyes fixed on Jesus.
You may not know exactly where the road ahead leads, but you can trust the One walking beside you.

Reflection:
Is there a door in your life that God may be asking you to trust Him with—either to walk away from or courageously step toward?

Prayer:
Father, help me trust You when the road feels unclear. Give me wisdom to know when to wait and courage to step forward in faith. Amen.

Challenge:
Take one small step today toward something God has been placing on your heart.

Day 2: Acknowledge God in All Your Ways

Scripture:
“In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” (Proverbs 3:6)

Devotional:
It’s easy to give God certain parts of our lives while keeping other parts for ourselves. We may trust Him on Sundays, during worship, or when life gets difficult—but Proverbs says “in all your ways.”

God doesn’t just want a corner of your life. He wants your whole heart.
That means inviting Him into your friendships, school, career goals, online life, relationships, habits, decisions, and future dreams. Following Jesus isn’t meant to stay inside a church building. Faith becomes real when it shapes everyday life.
The sermon warned how slowly people drift from God. Rarely does someone walk away overnight. Often it begins with small compromises—less prayer, less Scripture, less community, less dependence on God.

But when we continually acknowledge Him, He strengthens and guides us. Life may not become easier, but it becomes fuller because we walk closely with Him.

Reflection:
Is there any part of your life where you’ve been keeping God at a distance?

Prayer:
Jesus, I don’t want You to be just part of my story—I want You to lead all of it. Help me acknowledge You in every area of my life. Amen.

Challenge:
Before making a decision today, pause and intentionally pray, “God, what would honor You here?”
