Some exciting Christian Formation opportunities coming Fall 2026 to Good Shepherd Friendswood!

"The Chosen Bible Study" for EYC (Episcopal Youth Community, especially for 6-12th grade) on the 2nd Sunday of the month (starting 9/13) at 7 pm. Watch episodes of "The Chosen" Season One together and engage in conversations about Scripture, faith, and beliefs.

"Walk in Love: Episcopal Beliefs & Faith" on Sundays at 9:15 am (starting 9/20). Designed for adults and young adults. Journey through The Book of Common Prayer, the Christian life, and basic beliefs of our faith in this comprehensive course throughout the 2026-27 academic year. See how our prayer shapes our belief and our lives and how our beliefs lead us into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ. Appropriate for new and seasoned Episcopalians and especially suitable for anyone interested in Confirmation, Reception, or Reaffirmation.

"Catechesis of the Good Shepherd" (CGS), our "Children's Chapel" on Sundays at 10:30 am after we begin Holy Eucharist together (starting 9/20). CGS is a Montessori-based approach to teaching children a love of liturgy and nurturing their innate relationship with Jesus Christ. Our Atrium, the space where lessons take place, serves children 3-9 years old. The children rejoin their families for Holy Communion. CGS breaks for school holidays and on the 2nd Sunday of the month when a Children's sermon is offered.

Bring your backpack to church on Back to School Sunday, August 9th. Start the school year off with us at 8 or 10:30 am Holy Eucharist containing special blessings for students, educators, and backpacks along with a Children's Sermon. All are welcome!

This year, Good Shepherd is pairing with FISDCaress to provide each student who needs one a hygiene bag. Please drop items off in the Narthex or in the Church office no later than Sunday, August 2, 2026.

Wishing you all a Happy Independence Day on this 250th anniversary! Hope to see you tomorrow at 8 or 10:30 am as we celebrate like it's 1776 with Holy Communion according to the 1662 Book of Common Prayer.

Many thanks for all of your generous donations and help in preparing snacks for our "Snack it to Them" Daughters of the King service project for Christian Helping Hands! We packed 250 bags! Well done!

We're commemorating the 250th anniversary of The United States of America by celebrating Holy Communion like they did in 1776, according to the 1662 Book of Common Prayer. Join us for this commemorative celebration on July 5th at 8 am for a said service or 10:30 am for a service with hymns, organist, and choir. Period appropriate hymns will accompany our 10:30 am celebration.
