On August 9, 2026, Jonah Schulz was installed as pastor to the new home mission in Wilmington, North Carolina. God's blessings to the Schulz family and the core group in Wilmington as they share the gospel message with those in their community. It's Vicar Michael's first week of 19th grade! May God bless him as he grows closer to his Savior, connects with the Living Hope family, preaches and teaches the saving Word, and meets and serves new people in the community.

📖 By faith Abraham, when God tested him, offered Isaac as a sacrifice. He who had embraced the promises was about to sacrifice his one and only son, even though God had said to him, "It is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned." Abraham reasoned that God could even raise the dead, and so in a manner of speaking he did receive Isaac back from death.
-Hebrews 11:17-19

🙏 Dear Lord,
Abraham learned through the long saga of waiting for a child to trust your promises against all reason. Then you asked him to sacrifice his son for you.

He stared at the unreasonableness of that request and still believed in your promise to keep Isaac on earth. He reasoned that you would raise him from the dead. He was wrong about that because you never let him kill Isaac, but he was right about trusting your promises.

Help me to be "wrong and right" too. What I mean is that I am asking you to give me that faith that believes your Word over all reason and that tolerates being left to contemplate just how you will fulfill each promise in my life.

There's so much I don't know, but what I do know is that you will keep your promise to graciously bring me to a blessed end. Today, I will live by faith in you, no matter how unpredictable the journey.

✝ Heavenly Father, thank you for the gift of a new week. Fill our hearts with your peace, guide our steps, and help us rejoice in each day you have made. Keep us close to Jesus and make us a blessing to those around us. Amen. 💙

Planting seed by hand can be extraordinary. In your hand, the seed looks lifeless and insignificant. You put the seed into the soil, and suddenly, all by itself, the seed germinates and sprouts and reaches to the sun. Except when it doesn’t! Plant multiple seeds, and often only some will grow.

The Bible describes Christians as planted by the Word. Why do some people grow in faith, and not others? What makes Christians different? The Bible describes the supernatural process by which God calls people to faith through the gospel. He promises that his Word always accomplishes his purpose. It is powerful all on its own, without our help. As we grow in faith, we give God thanks for the miracle of his work in our lives.
