Forgiveness matters to God. Matthew 6:14-15 tells us that if we forgive those who have sinned against us, our heavenly Father will forgive us, but if we refuse to forgive others, He will not forgive us. By His mercy, we are not regarded for the evil things we've done against God and others. It's not that God is unaware of our wrongdoings, but He loves His children in spite of the sins we've committed. Since we've been forgiven, we are free to live differently and forgive others in the same manner. When we forgive, it doesn't erase the past. It doesn't change what was done. It doesn't necessarily remove the pain either. It does, however free us from the burden of holding on tightly to what was done and holding it against the one who did it. Forgiveness is a process that ends in freedom, and God has made you to discover Him as you walk through it.

Meet with God in prayer today. It can be 10 seconds or 10 minutes. Here are just a few ways you can pray...

Find a place to pray consistently.
Thank God for His creation on a walk.
Express gratitude for food on the table at dinner.
Pray for a co-worker who has a need.
Ask God to help believers in dangerous parts of the world.
Ask for wisdom for your church's pastors, and leaders.

So, how can you pray today?

Heaven is real. God’s Kingdom is real! When we pray, we engage in the reality of Heaven here on the earth. In this week’s message, Pastor Justin Ruszkiewicz sheds some light on how God brings about His kingdom and does His will right here in our every day lives. He is provider, freely giving what we need. He is the one who forgives us of all sin by the blood of Jesus. He is the protector, keeping us from the power of sin and the evil one by His grace alone.

Fathers are not perfect, and most fathers will tell you that.

When we pray to our "Heavenly Father" we are not praying to someone who has traits that might have hurt us growing up. God is the perfection of what a Father should be. We worship, pray to, and serve a perfect God.

In this week's installment of our current sermon series "It's Deeper Than That," Pastor Justin Ruszkiewicz begins to teach on The Lord's Prayer found in Matthew 6:9-13. In learning to pray like Jesus prayed, our lives are transformed to align with His. Prayer is not about God's existence transforming to meet our needs. In His famous prayer, Jesus models what it looks and sounds like to honor the Father. Jesus lived His life according to the Father's will, and He teaches us to do the same. He also calls upon and welcomes God's Kingdom into the earth as we know now and for all time, the here and now, and the eternal. Stay tuned next week to hear more on The Lord's Prayer.
