Get To Know Us
Have you been thinking about visiting Union Grove? Do you have questions about our worship service or other activities? Questions about God? What church means and should be? You can learn quite a bit more about us on our website (http://uniongroveumc-friendsville.org/youre-invited/). What we can tell you is that we’ve been around for a very long time, we’re a small rural church loc

ated just off Highway 321 outside Friendsville, TN, and we’d love to meet you! As with so many other things, the COVID-19 pandemic has changed how we do things. Our in-person worship service begins at 11:00 a.m. every Sunday. We are currently live-streaming the service here on our page. We also have on-demand videos available on our website and on our Vimeo.com channel. We’ve added new online opportunities as well. You can learn more about those at http://uniongroveumc-friendsville.org/a-place-for-all-searcher-doubter-saint/. And if there’s a class or subject you’d like to pursue, let us know! We’ll do what we can to meet your needs. We understand that life is different now and it’s not always possible to participate at established times. We’d like to invite you to subscribe to our newsletter by filling out our “Connection Card." (http://uniongroveumc-friendsville.org/connection-card/). We’re not fans of mountains of email, so you'll typically get only one "worship bulletin" per week that will keep you updated on what we’re doing, when and where, allowing you to select those activities that suit your schedule. We appreciate that you’re interested in Union Grove and we’d love to share God’s love and grace with you. If you have any other questions, just use the message button here on our page.

Have you ever found something you really, really liked?
Maybe a game.
Or a movie.
Or a food.
Or a place you like to go.
And you told somebody:
“You have GOT to try this!”
What happens if they say, “No, thank you”?
Do you have to make them?
Nope.
You can tell them why you like it.
You can invite them to try it.
But they get to decide.
There’s a story in the Bible about a man named Philip who met Jesus. Philip thought Jesus was pretty amazing, so he told his friend Nathanael.
Nathanael wasn't so sure.
And do you know what Philip didn't do?
He didn't argue with him.
He didn't tell him he was wrong.
He didn't try to make him believe.
Philip just said:
“Come and see.”
That's one way we can share God's love, too.
We don't have to make anybody believe what we believe.
We can be kind.
We can help people.
We can love them.
And we can tell them about the things that give us hope.
Then we let them decide.
Because an invitation says:
“You're welcome to come.”
It doesn't say:
“You have to.”
And I think Jesus would like us to remember the difference.

(RNS) — 'I think it is imperative on me, as a faith leader, to proclaim that human beings are not targets and that God is a God of justice and of love,’ said the Rev. Rebecca Girrell, a United Methodist pastor who was among those arrested.
