An encouraging message today for those who may be struggling with any number of issues of life, from our friends at Mission to Amish People who presented our Amish Awareness Conference in Friendship two years ago and were part of this spring's What God is Doing in Friendship ny Missions Marching Forward Week .....
August 26: The Endurance of Faith
Introduction:
Faith is like a muscle—it grows stronger the more we use it. Just as an athlete builds endurance by pushing through difficult workouts, our faith is strengthened as we face trials and continue to trust God. Each challenge we endure becomes part of the training that equips us to finish the race well. Today, let’s consider how God uses hardships to build endurance and deepen our faith.
Scripture:
“And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope.”
—Romans 5:3–4 (KJV)
Big Idea:
Trials build endurance, and endurance strengthens our faith for the race ahead.
Action Steps:
Reflect on a past trial you have faced. How did God use that experience to build your faith and endurance?
Look for someone who may be struggling today and offer encouragement. Share how God has helped you persevere.
Take Away:
Every trial is an opportunity to grow stronger in faith and prepare for the next stage of your race.
Story/Analogy:
Think of a runner preparing for a marathon. They don’t start by running 26 miles—they gradually increase their distance, facing tougher challenges with each step. With every mile, their endurance grows. In the same way, God uses life’s trials to build our spiritual strength, preparing us for what’s ahead.
Song Lyric:
“Through the trials, You’ll give me strength, to keep on running, I’ll never give up.”
—I Will Not Be Shaken by Bethel Music
Altar Call:
Are you in the middle of a difficult season right now? Bring it to God and ask Him to strengthen your faith and endurance. Trust that He will give you what you need to keep running the race with perseverance and hope.
