The Episcopal Church has a tradition of openness to thoughtful inquiry, and St David’s is a church where questions are at least as important as answers. We treasure and honor the age-old heritage of Christian faith and practice, even as we encourage spiritual and intellectual exploration. We are distinctly and explicitly Christian, but not dogmatic -- we span the range of the theological spectrum
from quite conservative to very liberal. The person who is likely to be comfortable here likes to make up his or her own mind, and is willing to grant others the freedom to do the same. As Christian people, we accept the testimony of the first band of disciples. They believed that they had experienced the presence of God in the life of Jesus of Nazareth, who would become known by the title “Christ,” meaning “anointed one.” We accept, too, their conviction that the Christ continues to be a living, spiritual presence among the people of God. We hope to experience, share and be changed by that presence, rather than to define or explain it. The first Christians were not theologians, but disciples, meaning students or followers. They called themselves followers of “the Way,” and understood themselves as people who were trying to live in the world as Jesus did: trusting God, loving one another, celebrating life, living without fear. They found that this “way” of living is one that nurtures the human spirit and forges a connection with the Spirit of God. David’s Church, we follow Jesus in order to find God, as those first disciples did. Our members come from many different faith backgrounds: Episcopal, Catholic, several varieties of Protestant, Buddhist, and “none of the above.” We share a desire for a rich worship experience. Our intention is to be a place where spirits are nurtured and pilgrims are helped along their way. Wherever you may be on your own journey, we want you to feel welcome here. You are invited to walk our garden labyrinth, and to join us for traditional spoken worship on Sunday at 8 am, or for contemporary-language worship with music at 9:30 am. Children of any age are most welcome. God is expecting you; come and see.
