This week's scripture is from Proverbs:

"Now therefore, listen to me, my children;
Pay attention to the words of my mouth:
Do not let your heart turn aside to her ways..." (Proverbs 7:24-25a)

We strive to follow the Lord each day for we are His children and we love the Lord, for He sacrificed Himself for us that we might have salvation in His name and be redeemed unto eternal life. We read and study the scriptures, and we pray. This is good. Yet the Lord calls upon us not to strive in our own might, but to listen, to listen to Him, to hear Him. Do we listen when we read His word? Do we hear what He is saying? Do we only speak or do we listen when we pray? Do we listen to hear if He responds? To hear Him we must be still. We must quiet ourselves in His presence, and listen. Don't follow the dictates of your heart but follow His heart. Let us lean not on ourselves but on the Lord. And let us listen to Him.

May the Lord bless you as you take the time to listen to Him, to hear His heart for you.

This week's An Encouraging Word:
This week's scripture is from Matthew:

When it was evening, His disciples came to Him, saying, “This is a deserted place, and the hour is already late. Send the multitudes away, that they may go into the villages and buy themselves food.”

But Jesus said to them, “They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat.”

And they said to Him, “We have here only five loaves and two fish.” (Matthew 14:15-17)

As you grow in Christ, times will come when Jesus will ask you to do what only He can do. Jesus knew his disciples could not feed five thousand people. We have no supernatural powers or ability, but the God we serve does. When He asks what seems impossible it is meant to bless us, and often to bless others, for the Lord does not ask us to do what we cannot do; He asks us to do what we can do: that is, to have faith, and to pray, to praise, and to believe, regardless how difficult the situation. And when we exercise faith, He is faithful to act, to provide for every need, for He longs to pour out His riches and blessings on those who have faith, who will come in faith, praising and believing, doing good even if things seem impossible. Let us go forth in faith confident in Him who is ever faithful.

May your prayers and praises rise to the Lord and your faith be pleasing to Him.

This week's An Encouraging Word:

This week's scripture is from Jeremiah:
"Look, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are you in My hand..." (Jeremiah18:6b)

A lump of clay cannot shape and mold itself; it needs the potter's hands to shape and mold it. It is the potter who knows what the clay should be made into and how it should be shaped by his hands to make it come out just right. Have you truly given yourself into the Potter's hands? The clay must submit to being worked, watered, kneaded, turned, drawn, and ultimately shaped to be made into something useful. Give yourself into the hands of the Lord, for He is our potter and we are but clay in His hands. Let Him mold and shape you into what He created you to be, for that will be the best thing you can ever become.

May you give yourself totally into the Potter's hands and let Him shape you.

This week's An Encouraging Word:

This week's scripture is from Matthew:
"Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry.

"Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.”

"But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’” (Matt. 4:1-4)

As we wait upon the Lord and anticipate His return, troubles and temptations arise against all who belong to the Lord, but the Lord is not troubled; He is not tempted. He speaks the truth; He takes up the sword of the Spirit, the word of God, and He strikes down the attacks of the enemy. Let us too take up the sword of the Spirit and boldly proclaim the Word. Quote the scriptures; speak truth to the lies of the enemy; pray in the Spirit; speak and stand on the word of God. Wield the sword in the power of His might and the enemy must give way before the reign and authority of the Lord Almighty. Thank God that He does not leave us defenseless, but we are armed with truth sharper than any blade. Praise God; praise His holy name.

May the Lord bless you to take up the sword of the Spirit and cut down the enemy with the word of truth.

This week's An Encouraging Word:

This week's scripture is from Hebrews:
"And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us..." (Hebrews 12:1b)

Though we are to keep our eyes on Jesus as we work out our salvation, each of us has our own path which He has put us on, and each runs the race God has set out. Some roads have many ups and downs, even steep valleys and mountain tops; some have long, long stretches over long, long distances; some have roads with many twists and turns, some have unexpected detours or delays. We may not know what is around the next bend or over the next hill, but we know if we are following Christ, He is there with us and we can keep going. Therefore, let us persevere, for though each life is different as is each road taken, all that travel with Christ reach the same goal; let us run with Christ the race He set out for us. Let us trust in the Lord and press on wherever He leads us for He is ever with us.

May the Lord renew your strength to run the race.

This week's scripture is from Psalms:
"O worship the Lord in the beauty of [His] holiness." (Psalm 96:9a)

Come, let us worship the Lord; let us praise His name with songs and hymns; let us make a joyful noise unto the Lord; let us lift our hands to Him and call upon His Holy name. Let us come into worship with thanksgiving; let us thank Him for His mercy and grace; let us thank Him for His love and faithfulness; let us thank Him for His truth and righteousness. Let us thank Him most of all for sacrificing His son Jesus Christ that we might know salvation and have the right to come boldly before Him with praise and worship. Let us bow our hearts and our heads before His holiness and lift His name on high. Amen.

This week's scriptures are from Psalms:

"Who may ascend into the hill of the LORD?
Or who may stand in His holy place?
He who has clean hands and a pure heart ..." (Psalm 24:3-4a)

"Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me." (Psalm 51:10)

Though we live in a fallen world, we are called to be righteous, we are called to be pure, we are called to be holy as He is holy. Yet we know how impossible this is for us to do in our own strength. We struggle against sin, but sin abounds; we try to separate ourselves from worldliness, but the world intrudes. We may despair, but God knows our heart; He calls us to repentance, to be cleansed, for we cannot be clean without God; we cannot be pure without God. We cannot be righteous without God; we cannot be holy without God. It is only by His grace that we are saved and only by His grace that we can live righteously, pure and holy. Let us bow in repentance and submit ourselves to righteousness and holiness. Let us give thanks to God for He cares for us. Let us give ourselves into His hands.

This week’s scriptures come from Genesis and Psalms:

“I am not worthy of the least of all the mercies and of all the truth which You have shown Your servant…” (Genesis 32:10a)
“I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised…” (Psalm 18:3a)

Despite our best efforts and intentions, we still seem to stumble in our walk and service to the Lord. Temptation and sin lie in wait for us; Satan comes to trip us up. It is humbling to be reminded that our strength is not sufficient, that we are not worthy of Him who has called us. But He is worthy! The Lord is worthy! Thank God! Thank God! Thank God! He is worthy! The Lord is worthy and worthy to be praised, for He is our strength and our redeemer, without whom we are lost and blind. Only the blood of Jesus Christ shed for us allows us to stand against all that comes against us. Only His blood washes away our sins and allows us to rise up to speak the truth that Jesus Christ is Lord. Praise God, Praise God, He is worthy.

May the mercies of the Lord Jesus Christ, the worthy One, the Son of God, bless you again and again.

This week's scripture is from Galatians:

“You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free.” (Gal. 5:13a)

Our freedom is found in Christ alone, for Christ sets captives free. In Christ we are set free from the bo***ge of sin and death. Christ calls us to be free by being in Christ and following Him. Let us celebrate our freedom in Christ by giving it to others. Let us follow His commandment to spread the Good News of salvation, for coming to salvation in Christ is coming into the freedom found in Christ. Let us explore our freedom in Christ by drawing ever closer to Him who sets us free, for the closer we are to Him the more free we will be. Find your freedom in Christ and be free as He wants you to be free.

May the Lord bless you with the freedom found only in Christ Jesus.

This week's scripture is from Psalms:

"Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior,
who daily bears our burdens."

"Praise be to God,
who has not rejected my prayer
or withheld his love from me!" (Psalm 66:20)

It is good to praise the Lord. Let us remember to praise our God and Savior, for He takes care of us -- if we will let Him. Remember to pray, for He will take up our burdens; He will lead us and guide us in all things and through every situation. He will provide for every need if we will but pray and praise Him and call upon His name. He is gracious with us and His love never fails; no good thing does He withhold from those who belong to Him, who pray, and who sing His praises. Praise Him who created heaven and earth; praise Him who sent His son to redeem us; praise Him who forgives us and loves us; praise the Lord God Most High.

May your heart be full, and may your voice rejoice in praising the Lord.
