Have you heard of the saying, “Tell me who your friends are and I’ll tell you who you are”?
After hanging around with someone for a while they are most likely to start becoming like each other. So what would this look like in your circle of friends?
There’s a verse in the Bible that says, ”He who walks with wise men will be wise, But the companion of fools will be destroyed.“(Proverbs 13:20 NKJV). In other words who you hang out with can have a good or bad influence in your life.
It’s normal to have things in common like favorite foods or interests. But when it comes to your character, are there similarities that stand out to you among your circle of friends? For example do your friends gossip and so do you? Or do they speak well of others and so do you? Do they criticize a lot and so do you? Or do they encourage? Are they negative a lot and so are you? Or are they full of faith in God and so are you? You can probably think of more.
So what needs to change? Only you can answer that because you know your friends and you know yourself.
As Christian women we need to be wise and be good godly examples to the other women in our lives, in our home, in our workplace, in our church, in our communities, at the grocery store and within our circle of friends. The Bible says, “Then Agrippa said to Paul, “You almost persuade me to become a Christian.”(Acts 26:28 NKJV). Paul was a radical Christian for God. He was uncompromising in his faith in God, a great godly Christian that was once against God but he had an amazing encounter with God and got saved! Paul’s testimony is still turning many to God today through the Bible!
In other words, your Christian journey, how you live your life, how you speak, how you are to others can cause them to become a Christian. Glory to God! Let that be your motivation to want to cause others to get saved in Jesus!
So be a wise woman and be a godly friend to those around you and stay away from bad company.
