Anglican Diocese of San Joaquin

Anglican Diocese of San Joaquin A diocese is a collection of congregations under authority of a bishop within a certain geographical Through him all things were made.

For a detailed description of what Anglicans believe please read An Outline of the Faith, commonly called the Catechism. Every week Anglicans profess the Nicene Creed as a statement of faith taken from the Book of Common Prayer (BCP)

WE BELIEVE in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of Go

d, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary, and was made man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come.

Today is the Anniversary of Bishop Menees' Consecration as a Bishop. Since 2011, by God's grace, Bishop Menees has faithfully served as the 5th Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of San Joaquin. Let us join together in offering the following prayer which was first prayed over him when he was made a bishop in the Church 14 years ago today.

"Almighty God and most merciful Father, of your infinite love and goodness you have given your only Son Jesus Christ to be our redeemer and the author of everlasting life. After he had made perfect our redemption by his death and resurrection, and ascended into heaven, he sent into the whole world his apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers; by the Holy Spirit, through their labor and ministry, he gathered together a great flock to set forth the eternal praise of your holy Name. Grant to this your servant such grace that he may ever be ready to spread abroad your Gospel, the glad tidings of reconciliation with you, and to use the authority given to him, not for destruction, but for salvation; not to hurt, but to help; so that, as a wise and faithful steward, he may give to your family their portion in due season, and at the last may be received into everlasting joy, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen." (Ordinal, Book of Common Prayer, 2019)

To all those looking for the Midday Service today, I need to cancel the service as I’m in San Francisco with a parishioner and friend who is having surgery.

Praying that you all have a blessed weekend and a joyful celebration with your church family. I look forward to seeing you all next Friday.

God Bless,
