Keep Yourself Calm Wednesday
Here is your morning devotional

Keep Yourself Calm

Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) is the man whom You discipline and instruct, O Lord, and teach out of Your law, that You may give him power to keep himself calm in the days of adversity, until the [inevitable] pit of corruption is dug for the wicked.
Psalm 94:12-13

God disciplines those He loves (Proverbs 3:12), and we should appreciate and submit to His discipline. Discipline is not a bad thing; it is our friend because it teaches us the right way to live so we can enjoy the blessings Jesus died to give us. Our scripture for today says that God will keep working with us through discipline and instruction until we learn to stay calm in adversity, while we wait for God to deal with our enemies.
For years I was up and down emotionally. If my circumstances were good, I was up, and if they were bad, I was down. This was very tiring, and it was not a good example to anyone around me.
I finally learned that being discouraged or depressed when facing trouble and difficulty doesn’t do any good. It never solves the problem. But if we put our trust in God and continue enjoying life in the midst of our problems, we defeat the devil and our breakthrough comes. Instead of feeling guilty or angry when God disciplines and instructs you, be thankful that He loves you enough to take the time to do it.
Prayer
Lord, help us welcome Your discipline and trust Your correction. Teach us to stay steady in every circumstance and grow stronger as You guide us in truth. In Jesus’ name. Amen!!!!

Be thankful that He loves you enough!!!!
Hallelujah!!!!!

Do Your Own Thinking Tuesday
Here is your morning devotional

Do Your Own Thinking

We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ.
2 Corinthians 10:5

Do you think about what you’re thinking about? Learning to regularly take inventory of our thoughts is essential to having a good life. Instead of being “unthinking” people, we can train ourselves to think about what’s going on in our minds. It was a glorious revelation for me when I realized I don’t have to think about just anything that comes into my mind. I can choose my thoughts and do my own thinking—on purpose. I can deliberately choose to think positive, faith-filled thoughts that line up with God’s Word. If your mood begins to sink or you have a bad attitude, take an inventory of your current thoughts, and you will very likely find the culprit. Negative thinking not only makes you upset and bitter, but it also prevents God from working in your life. We receive from God through faith, and faith is always positive. You don’t have to sit by passively and let the enemy fill your mind with poisonous and destructive thoughts. Instead, you can learn to recognize them, and with God’s help, you can think about something else that will be beneficial. Make a decision to think and say the right things—things that line up with the Word of God.
Prayer
Father God, help us recognize when our thoughts aren’t our own so that we can take them captive and replace them with thoughts that are beneficial. Help us think with the mind of Christ. In Jesus’ name. Amen!!!!

Make a decision!!!!!
Hallelujah!!!!!

Singing Praise to God Monday
Here is your morning devotional

Singing Praise to God

“To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!”
Revelation 5:13

Maybe you have heard Handel’s Messiah, which includes this song and many others that we find in the Bible. Maybe the music of that stirring oratorio is going through your head right now.
Praising God through song is not just a nice thing to do now and then. In this text, singing is shown to be one of the most worshipful things a believer can do. All creation is called to sing to the God who is worthy of “praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!” In song we can take part in worship with our whole being. If we are conscious of the words we are singing, our mind is deeply involved. If our emotions are affected by the music and the words, it can feel as if every part of our being is engaged. I have been able to sing in a few choirs. When I am singing a Christian song with a group of good singers, it can feel as if we are praising God in heaven. Not all of us are good singers or even musically inclined. But we don’t have to have great voices to sing wholehearted praise to our Creator and Savior. We can sing to and for the one true God who deserves all honor and glory and praise. And as our song reaches the Lord in heaven, it is purified, offering a sweet sound to his ear.
Prayer/Song
“Now blessed be the Lord our God . . . through all eternity; the whole earth let his glory fill: Amen! So let it be.”

Hallelujah !!!!!

Sweet-smelling Prayers Sunday
Here is your morning devotional

Sweet-smelling Prayers

They were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of God’s people.
Revelation 5:8

Did you know that our prayers are like a scented offering to the Lord? Imagine God sitting on his throne, inhaling all of our prayers. He is surrounded by four creatures that are beyond our imagining, and by 24 elders who represent all of his people redeemed by Jesus, the Lamb of God. The amazing creatures and the elders hold out bowls of fragrant offerings to God, and these represent all of our prayers. We might not usually think of scents when we consider God’s holiness or God’s presence, but perhaps we need to. We know that God created the nose of the bloodhound, which is about 50 times more sensitive than our own. So perhaps we can imagine God deeply breathing in the most attractive scent in the universe— our prayers. He takes a deep breath and smiles. God loves us more than we can imagine, and he delights in hearing whatever we have to say. Whether we express joy or thanks or wonder or sadness or grief or concern or anxiety, the God who loves us is always eager to hear us.
We can imagine that our prayers give God a scent more satisfying than fresh-baked bread or fresh-cut flowers. Our prayers are precious scents, offered to God in golden bowls. Did you know that your prayerful thoughts and words are enjoyed as the loveliest of scents in the highest heaven?
Prayer
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, accept our offerings of prayer. May they be a pleasing scent to you as you sniff out what we truly need. Thank you, Lord, for hearing all our prayers. In Jesus’ name. Amen!!!!!!

God loves us more than we can imagine!!!!!
Hallelujah!!!!!!

Guard Your Heart and Stay Spiritually Alert Saturday
Here is your morning devotional

Guard Your Heart and Stay Spiritually Alert

Keep awake (give strict attention, be cautious and active) and watch and pray, that you may not come into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
Matthew 26:41

Suppose you knew your house was surrounded by enemy agents and at any moment they might break through the door and attack you. Do you think you would be inclined to stay awake and watch the door?
What would you do if for some reason you couldn’t stay awake and watch? Wouldn’t you make sure someone else in the family was awake and alerted to the danger?
You need to be just as careful to guard against any potential attacks from the enemy of your soul. The devil is out to get you, and you must watch and pray at all times, asking God to help you when you feel weak. Ask God to provide the strength you need to overcome any temptation the devil brings your way. Guard your heart and take every thought captive.
Prayer of the Day: Lord, help us stay alert and guard our heart. Strengthen us to resist temptation, take every thought captive, and we rely on You to overcome every attack of the enemy. In Jesus’ name. Amen!!!!!

Ask God to provide the strength you need!!!!!!
Hallelujah!!!!!!!!

Say Yes When the World Says No
Thursday
Here is your morning devotional

Say Yes When the World Says No

And you will be hated by all for My name's sake, but he who perseveres and endures to the end will be saved.
Matthew 10:22

As a young boy in school, Henry Ward Beecher learned a lesson in self-confidence that he never forgot. He was called upon to recite in front of the class. He had hardly begun when the teacher interrupted with an emphatic, "No!" He started over and again the teacher thundered, "No!" Humiliated, Henry sat down.
The next boy rose to recite and had just begun when the teacher shouted, "No!" This student, however, kept on with the recitation until he completed it. As he sat down, the teacher responded, "Very good!"
Henry was irritated. "I recited just as he did," he complained to the teacher. But the instructor replied, "It is not enough to know your lesson; you must be sure. When you allowed me to stop you, it meant that you were uncertain. If the entire world says, 'No!' it is your business to say, 'Yes!' and prove it."
The world says "No!" in a thousand ways. And each "No!" you hear has the potential to erode your confidence bit by bit until you quit altogether. You just need to be bold enough to say "Yes!" when the world says "No!" God is for you, and with Him on your side you absolutely cannot lose.
Prayer of the Day: Lord, we’re glad You're here at our side. Because You are for us. We have the confidence to say "Yes," knowing that we can't lose. In Jesus’ name. Amen!!!!

You just need to be bold enough!!!
Hallelujah!!!!!

How to Find God’s Will for Your Life. Wednesday
Here is your morning devotional

How to Find God’s Will for Your Life

A man’s mind plans his way [as he journeys through life], but the Lord directs his steps and establishes them.
Proverbs 16:9

People often ask me how they can determine God’s will for their lives. Many people spend years waiting to hear a voice or to receive a supernatural sign giving them direction. But receiving direction from God is usually more practical than that. So my advice is: Step out and find out.
Early in my Christian life, I wanted to serve God but didn’t know exactly what to do. When different opportunities would arise, I would try those things that were available. A lot of them didn’t work out for me, but I kept trying until I found an area that fit me. I came alive inside when I had an opportunity to teach the Word of God, and I knew that was what I was supposed to do.
Sometimes the only way to discover the will of God is to practice “stepping out and finding out.” If you have prayed about a situation and don’t seem to know what you should do, take a step of faith. Even if that is not God’s ultimate destination, it will be another step toward the fulfillment of His will for your life.
Prayer
Lord, help us trust You and step out in faith. Guide our decisions, even when we’re unsure, and lead us step by step into Your perfect will for our lives. In Jesus’ name. Amen!!

Step out and find out!!!!!
Hallelujah!!!!!

Slave or Free? Tuesday
Here is your morning devotional

Slave or Free?

“Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
John 8:32

Sometimes we use polite, little lies to try to be kind or avoid being rude. We might say, “Yes, I can tell you’ve lost some weight.” Or, “You have not aged a bit.” Or, “Wow, you almost scored a goal on that play.” But our passage here is talking about truth and lies at a more profound level than the social niceties we practice.
Are you a slave to sin and death, or are you free from them? In John 8:32. Jesus says that “everyone who sins is a slave to sin.” That certainly includes me—and you too. If we wish to be free from that slavery, we must embrace the truth that is Jesus. Only he can liberate us from the sin that enslaves us.
Which sins enslave you? Are you a slave to anger, or lust, or greed, or envy, or sports, or beauty, or money? We are all slaves to something. We might tell ourselves that we will be truly happy once we get this or that thing, or when we reach a certain goal. But only faithful followers of Jesus have a real shot at freedom from slavery to sin. All other plans for liberation just end up in a new form of slavery.
An example of this is political revolution. In Nicaragua, for example, the Sandinistas overthrew an oppressive oligarchy led by Anastasio Somaza. Now, under the Sandinista leaders Daniel and Rosario Ortega, things are worse than ever before. Let’s not flip from one slave master to another. We can find freedom by following Jesus. Only then will we be free.
Prayer
Lord, we keep enslaving ourselves. Give us the desire to be free, and free us to live fully in you, we pray. In Jesus’ name. Amen!!!!

Only then will we be free!!!!!
Hallelujah!!!!!!!!

Quitting Is Not an Option Monday
Here is your morning devotional

Quitting Is Not an Option

Looking away [from all that will distract] to Jesus, Who is the Leader and the Source of our faith…
Hebrews 12:2

It does not take any special talent to give up and lie down on the side of the road of life and say, “I quit.” Anybody, whether they are a believer or not, can do that.
Quitting is a temptation we all face at one time or another, but when you get close to Jesus, or better yet, when He gets close to you, He begins to pump strength and energy and courage into you. And something wonderful begins to happen—He causes you to want to press forward! I used to want to give up and quit. But now I get out of bed and start each day fresh and new. I begin my day by praying and reading the Bible and speaking the Word, seeking after God. It’s amazing what a difference it makes when you begin your day drawing closer to God. When you feel the urge or the temptation to quit, don’t give in. Look to Jesus and follow His example. He pressed forward even in the most difficult circumstances, and He will give you the strength to do the same. He is your Leader; He is the Source and the Finisher of your faith.
Prayer
Lord, give us strength to keep going when we feel like quitting. Help us draw close to You daily and find renewed courage, faith, and determination to press forward. In Jesus’ name. Amen!!!!

He will give you the strength!!!!
Hallelujah!!!!

What Do You Want? Sunday
Here is your morning devotional

What Do You Want?

What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you?
James 4:1

Desires are thoughts. Sadly, they often begin with the words of our two-year-old selves: “I want that!” We can easily think, for example, “I want a car (or a house) like that.” Or, “I wanted the job he got.” I want, I want, I want. Not all of our desires are bad, but many are. If we want something that belongs to others or if we want something at the expense of others, that is typically wrong. Pleasure and enjoyment are great blessings, but if we seek such things only for selfish reasons, that can be wrong too. We can easily deceive ourselves into thinking, “I should have that . . . and why shouldn’t I?” Our desires can cause battles within us. How do we know if what we want is right or wrong? We can take it to God in prayer. And if we think, “I can’t possibly ask God for that,” it is probably a wrongful desire. We can also have lots of good desires, though. We may want our children to do well in school. We may want our friend’s marriage to be saved. We may want our church to grow. God is pleased when we ask for good things like these with the right motives. As we think about our desires, let’s focus on those that can bring about good for our neighbors, family, and friends. Let’s think about what can bring growth in God’s kingdom throughout the world. Things like these are in line with the desires of God’s heart.
Prayer
Lord, may you be our hearts’ desire. May we desire your good for ourselves and for others. May we share the joy of having life with you so that others may enjoy that too. In Jesus’ name. Amen!!!!

God is pleased when we ask for good things!!!!!
Hallelujah!!!!!
