NEW SERMON SERIES: Ekklesiology
STARTING THIS SUNDAY: 10/25/26

The church isn’t a building you go to, but a family you belong to.

But what does that actually mean?

What is the church? Who gets to determine how it functions? What does it mean to belong? And what should our life together look like?
The church belongs to Jesus. Let’s look to His Word to understand who we are and how He’s called us to live.

At the “Be On Guard” men’s conference, I taught on Sound Doctrine (guarding the truth in an age when people increasingly trade biblical teaching for what they want to hear).

How do we pursue unity without compromising truth? Which beliefs define the Christian faith, and how should we handle disagreements among believers?

These questions matter for every Christian. I’ve converted my message into a study guide with Scripture references, explanations, and reflection questions for personal study or group discussion.

This Sunday (10/11/26 at 1:30pm), we’re celebrating four years of God’s mercy and grace through our ministry. Please join us as we worship our King, give Him thanks, celebrate what He has done, and honor Him through our worship and surrender to His Word.

Sometimes moving forward requires letting go of something you were convinced you couldn’t move forward without.

God is the God of provision. He graciously provides everything we need to do everything He calls us to do.

But sometimes we begin to find our security in the provision more than the Provider.

What once sustained you may eventually need to be surrendered.

God loves to be depended on.

That’s why He gives imperfect, inadequate people impossible assignments.

This past weeks sermon was titled “Evidence that Demands a Verdict”. While the message was primarily about the evidence of your Christian life, we unpacked what the Bible teaches about earthly justice.

By way of introduction to the message, there were three points:
1. Heaven has a courtroom
2. Earthly courts are to reflect the justice of Heaven.
3. Earthly courts often fail in their God-given assignment

The Lindsay Clancy case reveals a difficult reality—in this world justice will be shrouded by sin. We see the limitations and failings of the earthly justice system. However, there is coming a day where God will bring all things to justice.

We are living in an age of compromise, distorted truth, and shaky foundations. Temptation is everywhere, therefore passivity is unacceptable.

This is not the time for men to let their guard down.

God has called men to be watchful, to stand firm in the truth, guard what He has entrusted to us, and faithfully lead in the places He has called us.

Be on guard in your home.
Be on guard in the church.
Be on guard in your private life.
Be on guard against temptation.
Be on guard in a culture that is constantly pulling you away from truth.

For the ones who arrive early and the ones who stay late. The ones who set up, tear down, teach our kids, make the food, run the sound, lead us in worship, welcome people at the door, serve food, run slides, capture photos and video, help tell the story of what God is doing, lead groups, disciple others, serve our city — and do a hundred other things most people may never see.

So much of the life of our church happens because ordinary people are willing to say, “I’ll serve.”

Not for recognition. Not because a position needed to be filled. But because the Church is a body, and every part has a place.

Church isn’t something we attend. It’s a family we belong to.

We are deeply grateful for every person who has taken ownership in the life and mission of Ekklesia and faithfully uses what God has given them to serve others.

And if you’ve been wondering where your place might be, tomorrow is a great place to start.

There are a thousand reasons people stay away from church.

Maybe you’ve been hurt by it.
Maybe you’ve been disappointed by people who claimed to know Jesus.
Maybe you feel like you need to get your life together first.
Maybe it’s just been a long time.

But the invitation was never to have it all together.

It was to come.

Come with your questions.
Come with your doubts.
Come tired.
Come carrying things no one else knows about.

Because at the center of our gathering isn’t a perfect group of people.

It’s a cross.

And on that cross, Jesus made a way for broken people to be reconciled to a holy God.

If you’ve ever thought about coming to church, maybe tomorrow is the day you stop thinking about it and simply come.

There’s a seat for you.
