"PowerWords" for June 4, 2026.
Scripture: Philippians 3:17-19.
PowerWord: "Enemies."

Good morning. We know that Satan, our own flesh, and the world are our greatest enemies. They are enemies of the Lord Jesus, the Bible, and the church. We live in an antichrist world, and we will encounter some occasional persecution along the way. But the Bible mentions another enemy of ours. The Bible calls them "enemies of the Cross of Christ." These are professing Christians whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly (controlled by their flesh and unbridled lust), whose glory (their reputation) is in their shame, and who set their mind on earthly things, things of this world. These people hurt the reputation of Christians and the church. While it could be that these are carnal Christians (1Corinthians 3:1-3), but they are most likely counterfeits, professing that they know Christ, but their lifestyle denies Him (Titus 1:16). They hurt the cause of Christ and are headed to eternal damnation. Paul wept over them and the damage they caused to genuine Christians. While we cannot judge what a person believes in their heart, we can see their life, their fruit, and their works.

God bless you,
Pastor Tim

"PowerWords" for June 3, 2026.
Scripture: Matthew 6:19-21.
PowerWord: "Deposit."

Good morning. Today, I was at the bank making a deposit. As I was waiting for the deposit to be processd, I thought how quickly the money goes. There are so many things that we can and must pay for, so our money doesn't seem to go very far. Whether you have a lot or little money, it doesn't last long. It doesn't last long enough to fall in love with it, and that's good, because the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. If we're not careful, money can even become our god. Instead of a lifetime of trying to pile up money for ourselves, we need to lay up treasures in heaven. We need to make some deposits in heaven. Make a deposit by bringing someone to Christ. Make a deposit by helping a neighbor. Make a deposit by visiting someone in the hospital. Make a deposit by doing some good deeds. Make a deposit by making a call or sending a card to someone who is lonely. Make a deposit by volunteering at church. There are many ways to make deposits to lay up treasures in heaven, treasures that are eternal.

God bless you,
Pastor Tim

"PowerWords" for June 2, 2026.
Scripture: Matthew 22:33.
PowerWord: "Doctrine."

Good morning. Occasionally, I hear Christians say we should not worry about doctrine, but just love one another and get along. While it is certainly true that Jesus told us to love one another, and the bible makes unity in the church a priority, but Jesus and the bible also talks about the importance of doctrine. Doctrine simply means teaching, especially about certain topics. When Jesus preached the great Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7), he taught on several topics. His teaching was doctrine. In another passage (Matthew 22:33), the people were astonished at His doctrine (teaching). In 2 Timothy 4, the bible says preachers should preach the word, exhorting with all long suffering and doctrine, because the time will come when people will not endure sound doctrine. If Jesus teaches doctrine, and the bible says to preach doctrine, we'd better do doctrine! Some of the main doctrines in the bible are (see how many you are knowledgeable about): Creation, The Trinity, God, Jesus, The Holy Spirit, Sin, The Fall of Man, Salvation, The Bible, Angels, The Church, and Last Things. We should be excited about all the things the scriptures teach us!

God bless you,
Pastor Tim

"PowerWords" for June 1, 2026.
Scripture: Matthew 22:34-40.
PowerWord: "Commandments."

Good morning. In today's text, a lawyer (in todays world, he would be an equivalent to a doctor of theology) asked Jesus a question, testing Him and trying to draw Him into an argument with the Pharisees. But, Jesus told Him the greatest commandment was "to love God with all your heart, soul, and mind." Then, Jesus followed that up with, "and the second is like it, Love your neighbor as you love yourself." Next, Jesus really shocked those religious leaders by saying, "On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets." That was a powerful statement! Those two statements, love the Lord with all your being, and love others like you love yourself, summarized the 10 Commandments and the 600 other laws of the Jewish faith. Jesus was telling them that it's not about religion, but about having your priorities right, and having your heart right. If we love Jesus first and most, then our love for others will be right, and we will be Christlike. Are these your priorities?

God bless you,
Pastor Tim
