Marriage was God’s idea from the beginning.

In Genesis 2:18–25, we see God create marriage as a good gift rooted in companionship, covenant love, unity, and intimacy. Before sin fractured the world, God made a way for man and woman to live together in self-giving love and faithful partnership.

Marriage is more than a cultural institution or personal arrangement. It points us to God’s design for relationship and reminds us that we were created to know, love, and belong to one another.

God did not create humanity from a distance.

In Genesis 2, we see a personal Creator who forms man from the dust, breathes life into him, places him in a garden, provides for him, speaks to him, and gives him purpose. From the beginning, God’s design was not merely that we would know about Him, but that we would live near Him, with Him, for Him.

Sin has fractured that nearness, but the good news of the gospel is that God has not abandoned His desire to dwell with His people. In Jesus, He has made a way for us to be brought near again.

Obedience to God is never casual... but it is always worth it.

Yesterday, we opened 2 Samuel 6:1-15 and saw the holiness of God, the danger of approaching Him on our own terms, and the joy that comes through humble obedience to His Word.

God’s presence is not something to treat lightly. He is holy. His instructions matter. And faithful obedience leads us into true worship.

You are not what you produce.
You are not what you carry.
You are not saved by how hard you work.

Before Adam ever lifted a hand, God’s work was already complete.
His first full day was not a workday.
It was a day to worship, receive, and rest in the God who had finished what He started.

Genesis 2:1–3 reminds us: God did not rest because He was tired. He rested because He was finished.
And He made time itself holy; before there was a temple, a priest, or a commandment.

Here’s the part we hate to admit:
Sometimes our constant activity is not faithfulness.
Sometimes it is anxiety pretending to be responsibility.

So stop trying to earn what He already accomplished.
