Thank You, Lord, for Your love.
The first promise of the Gospel wasn't given in a palace, a temple, or a church building. It was spoken in Eden, right after humanity fell into sin. In Genesis 3:15, God declared that "the offspring of the woman would crush the head of the serpent." That verse is often called the "protoevangelium" - the first announcement of the Gospel.
Before Abraham. Before Moses. Before David. Before Bethlehem. Before the cross. God was already promising a Redeemer who would defeat the enemy and undo the curse. This is why Christianity isn't merely a system of moral advice. It's not “try harder and become a better person.” It's the story of God stepping into human history, to conquer what humanity could never defeat on its own: sin, Satan, death, guilt, and separation from God.
At the cross, the serpent struck the heel. Christ suffered. Christ bled. Christ died. But in the resurrection, the head of the serpent was crushed. The enemy’s power was broken. Death didn't win. The grave didn't hold Him. The curse didn't have the final word.
This is the hope of every believer: evil is real, but it's not sovereign. Darkness is terrifying, but it's not ultimate. Christ has conquered. The promise has been fulfilled. And one day, every remnant of evil will be placed fully and finally beneath His feet.
