You know, the world has struggled from its very beginning with human beings trying to be God. It begins in Genesis where Adam and Eve seek wisdom apart from their creator. And the truth is you've demonstrated it in your life. I've demonstrated it in my life. When I'm in charge, I mess it up. When I get what I want, I hurt those I claim to love the most. And so we wake up every day with this kind of passion and desire to get what we want. But we must first begin by letting go, putting God in the proper place.

It was that time again, when the sanctuary transformed into a full Nerf Zone! After an epic round of battles and flying darts everywhere, our Grace Kids and Grace Youth enjoyed nachos and nuggets. Always a great time of fun, laughter, and community.

You know, so often we want peace but peace only comes with surrender. Sometimes we think we have peace because we think we've got it all under control. Have you noticed how long that lasts? Not very long. You get an email the next day, something happens with the kids or your spouse, and suddenly all that I'm in control, I've got it figured out, I've got peace, everything's good in my life, starts shaking. And, again, we are invited back to pray. Your kingdom come and your will be done.

The same thing that makes you a follower of Jesus. Nobody becomes a follower of Jesus without surrender. God doesn't invite rebels into his kingdom. You gotta give up control of your life. You have to trust him as your leader, as your savior, and you gotta put your faith in his death on the cross as sufficient for the forgiveness of your sins. The same thing that gets you into the kingdom is the same thing that allows you to live in the kingdom. Surrender.

This Easter, we begin a 7-week journey called Pray Like Jesus a series exploring not only what Jesus taught about prayer, but how He lived it. Before giving us words to say, He showed us what it means to trust the Father in dependence and obedience - and His resurrection proves the Father hears and answers.

Together we'll walk verse by verse through the Lord's Prayer and discover that this is more than learning how to pray - it's learning how to live as children of the Father and citizens of His Kingdom.
