Scripture says “The Joy of the Lord is our strength!” So if you are mad or not to happy with God, then where will your strength come from? Is this why so many are weak, back sliding to vomit/temptation, and falling asleep?

‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭11‬:‭27‬-‭30‬ ‭BSB‬‬ “Therefore, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord.
28 Each one must examine himself before he eats of the bread and drinks of the cup.
29 For anyone who eats and drinks without recognizing the body eats and drinks judgment on himself.
30 That is why many among you are weak and sick, and a number of you have fallen asleep.”

If you sit in the audience angry, offended, or despised whether directly at God or His representatives, you are listening and participating in an unworthy manner and will be guilty of sinning against the church and Blood of Jesus which will bring judgement.

In the age of grace, when we resist in becoming the covenant people and when discipline or judgment is not rendered so quickly, we tend to believe we can act, do, imagine, and disrespect all we want. We think we can hold into our sin or idols.

When Adam and Eve sinned did they think, “Oh, we are still alive and not dead. It wasn’t that bad!”

It was not the immediate stopping of the heart beat or breath that we in western culture define as death. So when we do or say things and quick death is not immediate, do we think in the same manner?

How did death start? First, the glory that covered Adam and Eve was gone. They felt naked, exposed, and unprotected. Death made them hide. Do you hide? Are you hiding your fears? Death tells fear to hide so you hide. Rather than coming into the light when God approached, they hid. Rather than confessing and bringing your nonsense into the Light, you hide your dark activities from the church, pastors, and maybe even your own family members.

You say to yourself, “ok, so far so good! Nothing has happened to me!”

But death is not always immediate, it likes to work its way into your kids, finances, health, marriage, and your whole life. It works like yeast. It begins to affect your whole life. Maybe nothing immediate or impacting has happened in the last ten years but the stench of death is around as there is no joy!

God directly provided for Adam and Eve animal skins. It wasn’t immediate death but relief. When we are given relief and not immediate death, do we think we can just continue with our nonsense since judgement was not rendered?

How did death work like yeast? First, the glory was gone so they hid. They were kicked out of the Garden of abundance and peace. Adam’s finances are affected as he must toil always worrying about the concerns of his surroundings. Eve’s ability to bring life and joy is hindered as her labor pain is greatly increased. And lastly but not least, the process of withering was here. The process of aging towards death. But Adam got to live for 1000 years. Would long life make us blind of our sins? Would it hinder us from coming to true repentance?

You need to think about this! Maybe this is why life is not making much sense to you even though you say you got Jesus? Maybe your sin is getting in the way?

‭‭Ecclesiastes‬ ‭8‬:‭11‬ ‭BSB‬‬ “When the sentence for a crime is not speedily executed, the hearts of men become fully set on doing evil.”

‭‭To receive a prophet’s reward

What about the reward? Let us not give honor to an authority just for the sake of a reward. The reward is a byproduct of what we should do naturally out of love and obedience. We should stop being so transactional as this western culture has so ingrained us to be. We are not a religious people nor of this world, amen?

Let us look at Elijah. He is a prophet and a righteous person. When he went to the widow in Zarephath, what did the widow need to do to live? She only had one last meal for her and her only son. Let me repeat. She only had one meal left for her son. Elijah comes and tells her to feed him first with bread and water before her only son. Let me repeat. Elijah told her to serve him first and they can have the leftover. Was she mad at God for the famine? Was she resentful to the representative of God for their suffering? Did she tell him in her mind to get lost?
But Elijah did foretell her if she feeds him first, then she will be blessed and her oil and flour will not run out until the Lord sends rain. There will be a miracle while there is no rain. As Christians, we may experience many miracles while we are in the wilderness, personal famine, or personal suffering but there is a day when the next season comes. When the rain comes, should the widow keep looking in her jars for miracles? No, she needs to go get a JOB! She needs to go back to work. Many Christians just assume, based on their own opinions, think God will continuously provide in a miraculous way. No, get a full time job is your next season - and work hard!

The miraculous manna was only for the wilderness in Exodus and it stopped once they entered the promise land. If you want the promise land, stop living for handouts or freebies. Yes, freebies feel good at times but let’s grow up and learn to conquer and know how to give in honor and become those who give and serve abundantly.

When the widow obeyed giving the man of God first priority, what happened? The widow not only gave part of her last remaining meal, she served him by housing him under her hospitality. Her oil and flour did not run dry until the rain came and she served, fed, and housed Elijah for that period. I am sure she did his laundry and cleaned up after him during the whole famine while he took care of his godly duties.

Matthew‬ ‭10‬:‭40‬ ‭BSB “‬‬He who receives you receives Me, and he who receives Me receives the One who sent Me.”

In Jewish culture and thought, a messenger represented the sender. The agent of a man is as the man himself. If Jesus actually showed up in your home or church to give you a message, how would you treat Jesus? You would most definitely accept His message or Word. You would offer great hospitality. You would accept His authority and discipline. You would listen to every word and obey all instructions. You would show great respect. I do not think you would pick and choose what you want to hear. I do not think you would speak to Him as common.
If Jesus told you to uproot and move, would you? If Jesus told you leave your family behind for His sake, would you? If Jesus told you to take him some difficult people into your home, would you? If Jesus told you to get a job and work full time, would you? Would you look at Him with offense? Would you look with despise? Would you complain or vent about His decisions on you to your best friend? Jesus is not physically here so HE sent the Holy Spirit to work through His servants called “pastors” or leaders of the church. If refuse to obey or do only some of what is instructed, are you not rebelling?

Since HE is not physically here, God uses the chain of command or authority through the pastors in the power of the Holy Spirit.

Let’s look at other verses.

Luke 10:16: He who hears you hears Me.

John 13:20:Whoever receives the one I send receives Me.

This is kingdom culture and mindset. If we are God’s people, we need to think as God‘s people and not as citizens of this pagan world. Then you will find the path to abundant living.

‭‭The prodigal son or daughter

Luke‬ ‭15‬:‭28‬-‭30‬ ‭TPT “‬‬The older son became angry and refused to go in and celebrate. So his father came out and pleaded with him, ‘Come and enjoy the feast with us!’

29 “The son said, ‘Father, listen! How many years have I worked like a slave for you, performing every duty you’ve asked as a faithful son? And I’ve never once disobeyed you. But you’ve never thrown a party for me because of my faithfulness. Never once have you even given me a goat that I could feast on and celebrate with my friends as this son of yours is doing now.

30 Look at him! He comes back after wasting your wealth on prostitutes and reckless living, and here you are throwing a great feast to celebrate—for him!’”

We like to reference the prodigal son/daughter when we look at our own lives. But we need to look at the other angel of the older brother (sister) who at first appears faithful, loyal, and a hard worker. As I said in my sermons, it is all our fault, whichever side we are on. I will speak more on this, so please read about the prodigal son and see if you can observe how the older brother is actually bitter of his younger brother and situation, not viewing the celebration as fair. Therefore, are we also playing both roles of the older sibling besides the prodigal son or daughter?

You are initially saved by Grace through your faith! But after salvation, now what? Do nothing? Go about living the way you did? Be a part time Christian? A person who labels oneself a Christian but still has yet to read the whole bible nor a person who prays and dedicates oneself into the temple (church)?

No! We must bear fruit of repentance which will be deeds of obedience doing God’s will showing surrender and a new life. Otherwise, you may continue to show deeds of sin and disobedience which will lead to death.

Isaiah 27:6 BSB “In the days to come, Jacob will take root. Israel will bud and blossom and fill the whole world with fruit.”

This will happen when we follow and walk as Jesus in His righteousness. When we follow a person, we are going where HE goes. We eat what He eats. We do what HE does. We say what HE says. We start to mimic and copy Him. HE is our mentor. We obey Him. We leave everything and start a new life. We do not look back when things get difficult. This is a good thing. Jesus wants us to be like Him because in Heaven, it is about Him. We endure and tough it out. Why? Because our God has found us. HE is saving us and taking us home.

2 Kings 3:11 AMP “But Jehoshaphat said, “Is there no prophet of the Lord here from whom we may inquire of the Lord?” One of the servants of the king of Israel answered, “Elisha the son of Shaphat is here, who used to pour water over Elijah’s hands.”

12 “Jehoshaphat affirmed, “The word of the Lord is with him.” So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat and the king of Edom went down to him.”

The story in second kings chapter 3 is about a battle in which the kings of Israel, Judah and Edom are set out against Moab but they run out of water during their travel. It is like three christians representing three kings spiritually fighting but running out of energy and strength and needing help from the Holy Spirit. But these three Christians do not have the anointing authority and need to seek a pastor for help.

This story like many stories teach us we need help of those who have higher authority. This is Kingdom principle. One of the servants of the king of Israel answered, “Elisha the son of Shaphat is here, who used to pour water over Elijah’s hands.”

At first, even I thought this statement meant, Elisha poured water into Elijah’s cup. But he said, “used to pour water over Elijah’s hand.” Literally, it does means to pour water over one’s hand as the other washed his hand. Elisha starts out as a handmaid.

On Sunday preaching, I tried to remember and pronounce a word. The word is “Hermeneutic” which is the theory, methodology, and study of interpretation, particularly of literature, biblical texts, and philosophy, aiming to understand the deeper meaning of texts, human actions, and experiences.”

This term, “who used to pour water over Elijah’s hands,” is hermeneutical. In today’s term, we can associate with a modern term, “he was his right hand man!”

In western, cultural mindset, we think a right hand man is a person who fights more equally along the side of his partner. But in biblical and Hebrew culture, it would be more a hand servant who is being mentored and trained. This one is being schooled. They may be serving as a low servant in all areas just as Jesus wrapped a towel and washed the feet of His disciples.

But such devoted and humbled servitude represented a loyal and established graduate. When the servant of the king said that “Elisha is one who poured water over Elijah’s hand,” the kings knew that Elisha’s advice and help would come with all the teachings and more importantly, the spirit of Elijah on Elisha! And this is why in second kings chapter 3, verse 12, Jehoshaphat the king of Judah said “the Word of the Lord is with Elisha!” Therefore the three kings sought the advice and word of the Lord from Elisha, who was now the prophet of the Lord after Elijah.

For modern day church, how do we become the right hand man for the higher authority? If you bring your western mindset, custom and behavior, it will only end in offense by one who tried to serve. The western mindset expects a wage rather than just obeying and serving out of gratitude. You need to renew your mind and think outside the box and understand what kingdom principle of servitude, loyalty, and honoring your authority really means as defined by God. Then the angels can say that you are one who pours water over your teacher’s hand.

We need to come to full understanding of spiritual authority so we may honor properly and receive the reward of the prophet and the righteous man.

‭‭Mark‬ ‭16‬:‭16‬-‭18‬ ‭TPT “‬‬Whoever believes the good news and is baptized will be saved, and whoever does not believe the good news will be condemned.

17 And these miracle signs will accompany those who believe:

18 They will drive out demons in the power of my name. They will speak in tongues. They will be supernaturally protected from snakes and from drinking anything poisonous. And they will lay hands on the sick and heal them.”

Let us examine the word, “baptized” because the New Testament church just presume this is the performance of water baptism. But the original word, baptize,” does not refer to water but has the context and definition of “immersion.” Since it defines immersion, the New Testament church presume it must be water baptism since John the Baptist had performed water baptism calling people unto repentance. But the word itself describes the act of immersing, not the element. This message is not discounting water baptism but there is still a more important significance beyond the symbolic performance. We also see in other parts of the bible as the Word commands us to baptize in the Name of Jesus or in the Name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Is water baptism itself a prerequisite for salvation? Of course not as one of the thief on the cross who hung next to Jesus was saved and was not water baptized. JESUS is the Lord of Salvation and His mercy is to whom HE gives mercy. But then what is the importance of Mark 16:16? Jesus wants people to believe in Him and be immersed in all His Fullness. Water baptism is a good thing but those who are being water baptized need to understand the act is symbolic and it is more your promise to immerse your life in Him. The water can represent His Word, Spirit, and Life. The act of water baptism is not only unto repentance but a vow to immerse one’s life in full commitment to the life of Christ as a surrendered nation (person/family). It may be a starting point but not a prerequisite to salvation but can be viewed as a personal promise in which from a genuine conversion was made. What personal promise? A promise to read and come to know His Word keeping His commandments. A promise to pray without ceasing as Jesus prayed. A promise to give one’s life in full surrender and submission to His Authority and Kingdom walking in a worthy manner to glorify Him. A promise to produce fruit in keeping with one’s repentance! As God told the father of faith, Abraham, to walk blameless and live in His Presence and as Jesus commands us to be perfect as the Father is perfect, let us come to maturity and completeness as a fruit is ripen. This is the goal of the race to come into the fullness and life of our Lord Jesus through the power of the Holy Spirit. Then the power for verses 17-18 can manifest.

‭‭John‬ ‭16‬:‭7‬-‭10‬ ‭BSB‬‬ “But I tell you the truth, it is for your benefit that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you.

8 And when He comes, He will convict the world

9 in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment:

10 in regard to sin, because they do not believe in Me;

11 in regard to righteousness, because I am going to the Father and you will no longer see Me;”

When Jesus asked the disciples to first follow Him, they were mere babes in Him. As they followed and walked before Him, they learned, observed, and participated in His ministry. Then HE told them He had to go but they reacted with anxiety. Yet, Jesus said HE must go! It was to their benefit.

Jesus was telling them it was time to grow up and to stop clinging onto Him physical but now to cling on spiritually. In order to cling on to spirituality, and since Jesus was no longer there physically, it would be done through prayer, reading the Word, obeying His Will, and most importantly being bounded with one another through His Love.

If Jesus did not go, then HE could not send the Beloved Holy Spirit. If you do not choose to grow up, you will not be able to come to the fullness of Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit. Yes, as babes, you need to be told what to do. You need direct guidance by your pastors or elders. You need to be told to pray, read, go to church, and help with many personal dilemmas but you must come to maturity so you can help in the ministering of God’s saints as the Father is preparing to send more outcast to us.

If the pastors are there and to represent you following and walking before Christ, then you must come to a place in abidance after all these years as a Christian. Remember, this word “abide.” It is like a marriage which is fought and forged in the fire to stay and be kept together to create true unity and oneness even though many have thoughts of doubt and abandonment when found in difficult seasons.

All of you think you been called to be “man/woman of God?” What is the purpose of the apostles, prophets, pastors, evangelist, and teachers for the body of Christ? It is to bring the body or saints to maturity but how can you if you, yourself, cannot even come to maturity?

The word for “maturity” for the New Testament is “teleios.” What does it mean?

“Literal meaning: complete, perfect, full-grown, mature, having reached its end/goal.”
Old Testament “maturity” is “tamim.”

“Meaning: complete, whole, sound, blameless, wholehearted, mature, development, having reached the goal God designed — not just getting older, but becoming whole and functional in character and faith.”

So when God tells us to be perfect or blameless before Him, it means we are mandated to come to full maturity as a fruit comes to ripeness.

Then what is maturity? It is to come to the place where your life is completely led by the Beloved Holy Spirit and no longer by the impulses of your flesh.

John 15:4 KJVAAE
“Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.”

In other western translations, the word “Abide,” is replaced with “remain” while Passion version uses “life - union.” When we see the words, “Remain in Me,” we see the act to remain in Him as something without much difficulty. We, as western Christians, like to presume and we may presume “to remain” is to go to church occasionally and attendance does not have to be consistent but yet it is still important regardless. We further presume “to remain” is to sustain the knowledge that God is real and exiting.

The context of the first four verses is about cutting away the unfruitful branches and pruning the fruitful ones. But the original word “abide” is more accurate.
Let us look at the definition.

Quote
“Abide is a verb meaning to tolerate/put up with (“I cannot abide dishonesty”), to follow or conform to a rule/decision (“abide by the rules”), or to remain/stay (“abide with me”). It can also mean enduring a situation or waiting for something.”
End quote

Church attendance alone would not be defined as abiding. Simply acknowledging that God exist would not be defined as abiding either.

In context as Christians, the word “to abide” is better understood as meaning to endure, to be long suffering, to be patient, to withstand many difficulties, to follow, surrender, and comply. As we do this and stay connected through our seasons, we will bear fruit and complete what God has called us to do.

And this is what it means to Abide! It means it is a difficult thing and therefore we need to cling onto His Grace!

Now the question, how are we to Abide? Watch my sermons.

‭‭Nehemiah‬ ‭9‬:‭3‬ ‭BSB‬‬ “While they stood in their places, they read from the Book of the Law of the Lord their God for a quarter of the day, and they spent another quarter of the day in confession and worship of the Lord their God.”

What is quarter of a day? 24 hours divided by 4 is 6 hours. They read for 6 hours. Then another 6 hours in confession and worship. Why?

They were repenting and confessing. What have you done to show you have or are repenting? What has the Western church done to show God they are sincere? Have they even read the whole Bible at least once? Do they go consistently to church each Sunday as a new citizen of Heaven? Do they even know the content in the Bible besides some main point talking points?

Will Jesus find faith on th earth when HE returns?

‭‭Luke‬ ‭18‬:‭8‬ ‭BSB‬‬ “I tell you, He will promptly carry out justice on their behalf. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on earth?”
