Pastor Tom spoke today about sheep. Sheep are not bright. They will follow one of the members of the flock right off of a cliff. In the Bible , God compares mankind to sheep. Compared to one another we may not seem stupid, but from The Creator of the Universe's perspective we are not very bright. We follow one another into sin, like that flock of sheep that walked off of a cliff, totally unaware of the danger. The solution to our sin problem s the same as the solution to the dilemma of the sheep. The sheep need a leader that will look out for their well being. They need a shepherd. Some one who knows the dangers the flock faces, can lead them to safety and keep them well fed and watered. Sheep provide us with an object lesson for our needs. Christ offers to be our Good Shepherd. He can lead us besides still waters, to paths of righteousness, and restore our souls. We need to Learn His voice. Listen to His voice. Follow His voice. Trust Him.

I have not updated this for quite some time. Sorry about that. Today in FCA Mrs. Dodd shared that God loves us as we are and that we do not have to conform to a certain standard for him to accept us. People at school, or in life in general, tend to find value in people that look or dress a certain way. Not only is God's love unconditional, but he loves us completely even though he knows us completely. When we go through life we are usually trying to present a face to the world that we think people will find appealing. We not only try to cover up physical imperfections, but we try to cover our emotional and spiritual flaws because we think that no one could like us if the ugly side of our personality came out. God sees right through us and He still loves us. He loves us and he wants to helps. Helps us overcome our flaws and use that knowledge to help others who might need to deal with the same flaws. Help to love others who don't feel worthy of love. Help others to see that a person's worth is based on how God sees them and not the surface features that the world uses to judge a person's value.

First post of 2011-2012 School year. We started our deeper look at the Bible with looking at who God is and doing a comparison with who we are. Although we looked at many verses there is no way that we can compress who God is in a 30 minute study. Key thoughts were that God is Spirit, we are flesh; God is self-sustaining, but we need food, water, and other things to survive. God is kind, just and righteous. God is the Creator and Lord. We tend to what to be independent and try to do things on our own, but when we do that we are running from the timeless Creator, who knows how life works and sees the beginning and end of all things. Instead of seeking His help and trusting His vision we thing we have better ideas. If we follow God's advice, that is provided in the Bible, we will make better decisions and not stray from His protection. That doesn't mean we will have a trouble free life, but we can rest in the hope of spending eternity with our Awesome God.

We looked at Thanksgiving today and focused on remembering to give thanks to God for the many things he provides for us.
