FAMILY FUN DAY

Preschoolers - Funny Food
At dinner, give funny names to familiar items. Call forks, “pokies,” and spoons, “scoopers.” Throughout the meal, call everything by their new, funny names. As you laugh together, talk about how the words we say can bring joy or hurt to others. We can ask God to help us control our words and know that He loves to help us obey Him.

Elementary - Wild Words
Come up with different categories as a family, such as foods, animals, games, and so forth. Direct one person to share one word that matches that category. Then the next person must say another word in that category that starts with the last letter of the previous word. Keep playing until each player has shared three words or until someone gets stumped. When you finish, talk about how words carry power, and we can ask God to help us use words that build others up and honor God.

Enjoy quality time with your family this week!

This Week in Grace Kids!

PRESCHOOLERS : This week preschoolers will learn that God helps us with our words. A follower of Jesus named James wrote a letter teaching that our lives can point others to God. (See James 3.) He wrote that our words have power—the power to build up and the power to tear down. Preschoolers will learn that controlling what we say helps us follow God all the way. This week, make an extra effort to speak words that build others up, helping your preschoolers see the power godly words have.

ELEMENTARY : Our words have power! In James 3, he wrote that our tongues have the power to praise or curse God and to build others up or tear them down. God can work through our words to show His love and share truth with others. Kids will learn that, when it is difficult to control our words, we can ask God for help. This week, celebrate when your kids use words to build others up and be intentional to use words to build them up as well. Share that God can work through our words to encourage and point others to Him.

It's going to be a great day to join us in Grace Kids!

FRIDAY FAMILY DISCIPLESHIP

“For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of him who sent me.” John 6:38

Kids are at the age when they are testing and discovering boundaries. It is not always easy for them to obey and follow through. Honestly, it is not always easy for us, as adults, either. But we can remember the example of Jesus, who gave up everything to follow the will of God. Jesus helps us know that we are called to live not for ourselves but for God. As you trust and follow God, you are helping your kids see that this is the way we were made to live.

Praying you have a great week with your kids. We can't wait to see you again at Grace Kids!

Sunday is Coming! This week in Grace Kids:

PRESCHOOLERS : Our Bible story this week will teach about a wise king named Solomon. When Solomon had the opportunity to ask God for anything, Solomon asked for wisdom. Throughout his life, Solomon made wrong choices, but he also showed the value of knowing and following God’s wisdom. God helps us with our thoughts by giving us His wisdom. Preschoolers can know that God also helps us trust and follow His wisdom. Throughout the week, ask your preschoolers, “What are you thinking about?” Share that God helps us with our thoughts and gives us wisdom to know and follow Him.

ELEMENTARY : This week kids will learn that God cares about our thoughts. The disciple Peter wrote in 1 Peter 1:13-25 that our thoughts influence our actions. We set our minds on God by thinking about who He is and what He says. Kids can know that when we set our minds on the things of God, He helps us live for Him. In the face of challenging times this week, stop and ask your kids, “How can we set our minds on God?” Demonstrate that we can intentionally think about God in all things.

We can't wait to see you in Grace Kids!

Friday Family Fun Day

PRESCHOOL : Which One Is Empty?
Turn over three solid-colored cups on a table or the floor and place small toys or other objects underneath two of the cups. Shuffle the cups around and challenge your preschoolers to guess which cup is empty. Play a few rounds, even allowing your preschoolers to lead the game. Tell your preschoolers that we do not have to guess about the empty tomb. Jesus really did come back to life! The tomb was empty, and we can celebrate that God sent Jesus for us.

ELEMENTARY : Fingerprint Cross
Gather washable markers and a piece of paper for this family craft. Draw a thick outline of a cross. Then invite your family to color a finger and fill the cross outline with fingerprints. Wash your hands when you are done. Finish by allowing each person to write God cares about ____ around the cross. Hang the picture as a reminder that God knows and cares about each person in your family, and He invites all of you to love, follow, and live for Him.

Enjoy family time this week!

Come Celebrate Easter with us in Grace Kids!

Kids will learn that God sent Jesus to die on a cross, taking the punishment we deserved for sin. Jesus rose again on the third day, showing that He is more powerful than both sin and death. Everything God did though Jesus shows that He sees us, loves us, cares about us, and wants to help us have a relationship with Him. When we recognize God’s care for us, it helps us live out our love for Him. We celebrate Easter because of what Jesus has done, and we can celebrate that every time we obey God!

We hope to see you there!

Friday Family Fun Ideas

Take 1 day this week to highlight these 2 things and spend 3 minutes talking about them: Draw a picture of a donkey with your preschoolers. Ask, “How can a donkey remind us about Jesus?” Tell your kids that people celebrated when Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey because they had hope God would send Someone to save them. We can also have hope when we trust and follow Jesus because He loves us and promises that we can live with Him forever.

We pray you enjoy time with family this week.

This week in Grace Kids:

PRESCHOOL : This week we will celebrate a Hooray Day, a special day where we celebrate God! This Hooray Day is a BIG celebration, because we will learn about when Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey. This day is often called “Palm Sunday.” People had been waiting and hoping that God would send His promised Savior. They celebrated Jesus by laying down clothing and palm branches and shouting, “Hosanna!” which means, “Save us!” Like the people in Jerusalem had hope, we can have hope that Jesus will return one day and make everything new. This week, ask your preschoolers what they are looking forward to when they start elementary school. Share that we can be excited for new things, but we can also be excited, have hope, and know for sure that something good is coming because Jesus promised to return so one day we can live with Him forever.

ELEMENTARY : It's Game Changer Day
Kids will learn in the New Testament books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, Jesus rode a donkey into Jerusalem on what we now call Palm Sunday. People in Jerusalem celebrated by waving palm branches and laying clothing on the ground. What were they celebrating? The Savior they hoped for—the One God promised to send to rescue them—was finally there. Kids can know that God leads us to hope as well. He invites us to a forever relationship with Him. We can look forward to and know that God loves us and promises to be with us now and forever. This week, make a fun movement and response with your kids where, every time someone waves at someone else, the response is, “God leads us to hope!”

It's going to be a great day. Pray you join us for a fun filled Sunday!

Family Prayer Time

Take time today to pray as a family, talking and listening to God. Pray these four things:
1. Thank God that He makes the way for us to know Him and have a friendship with Him through Jesus.
2. Ask God to help you remember that He is holy, never changes, is just and kind, and is wise.
3. Pray for one another that you can remember God’s kindness this week.
4. Choose one or two other people to pray for—that they would know, trust, and follow God too.

We hope you enjoy quality time together with your kids.
