Calvary is in our name because it points to a place and time in human history where the Lord Jesus Christ was crucified for our sins. “And when they had come to the place called Calvary, there they crucified Him” (Luke 23:33). It was at Calvary that Jesus said, “It is finished!” referring to the fact that His death on the cross was full and complete payment for the penalty of our sins. And it was
at Calvary that His blood was shed for you and me, for without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness (Hebrews 9:22). Our Savior, Jesus Christ, died for our sins, was buried and rose again the third day. Bible is also significant in our name because it is the written Word of God. God has communicated to us through the Bible and in it we learn not only how we can be saved from our sins, but how we can live to please God. We teach and preach from the Bible and have consistently taught through the Bible verse by verse, line upon line so that we are taught the whole counsel of God. Chapel was also chosen in the name because the building we meet in is not the Church. We could have used words such as auditorium, hall, assembly, or building, but chapel was chosen because the building in which we meet is a place for fellowship, worship, prayer and teaching. The Church is made up of people who are born again through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. So we could say: The Church gathers together at the Chapel. We hope you will come to Calvary and meet the Lord Jesus there as your Lord and Savior, then study the Bible with us at the Chapel to grow in your walk with Him.
