Each day of Holy Week builds with increasing intensity. What did that look like for Jesus
It began with the cheers of Palm Sunday
The cleansing of the temple on Monday
Confrontation with religious leaders on Tuesday
A betrayal plotted on Wednesday
The washing of feet and the Lord’s Supper on Thursday
And on Friday, He carried the cross to the place of His death
Jesus calls all of His followers to take up their cross. For those in leadership, you feel that weight more with each passing day of this week.
You may be asking:
How do I say this in a fresh way?
How will we cover all the services?
Where do I focus my energy?
How will I make it through the week?
Here is an encouragement to you.
The cross we carry — though heavy, especially this week — is still lighter than the cross of Christ.
“Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart… you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood” — Hebrews 12:3–4
So keep praying. Keep preparing. Keep inviting.
God is with you.
People simply need to be reminded why the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus still matter.
And God will use this week.
It may be a quiet moment at a Thursday communion service.
A heart awakened through the weight of Good Friday.
A fresh realization at a sunrise service.
Or a story of a resurrection appearance finally becomes personal.
God will see you through!
May the same power that raised Jesus from the dead be with you, in you, and speaking through you this week.
“That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead…” — Ephesians 1:19–20
Rejoicing in the Resurrection,
