Hi GEMS families! We are so excited to get started on our GEMS 2026-2027 year on Wednesday, October 7! Our theme this year is 'Wayfinder-Following the Way, the Truth, and the Life'. Our theme verse is John 14:6 "Jesus answered, 'I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.' "

An exciting change for GEMS this year-we will be meeting in our newly renovated space in the basement! We've tailored this space exclusively for the GEMS girls and are so thrilled to share it with them!

This week, we look at chapter 11 of the book of Hebrews. Set in the first century, written to Jewish Christians, the Hebrews author wanted these new Christians to understand that something new had come, something better in Christ Jesus. But this new thing was built on something old. This was the same God of the Old Testament revealing himself in human form. And just like the saints of the Old Testament, it would still be by foundation in faith that we are saved. A foundation that still stands today as we are called to build the Kingdom of God, here on earth.

This Sunday, Aug 23 (during regular church service) we will have a Blessing of the Backpacks event. If your child or grandchild is going to school this year, whether they are in preschool or high school, please bring them and their school backpack to church service so they can be prayed over. We will pray for the Lord’s blessings to be upon them for peace, safety, and wisdom, and for the Lord to be with them as they begin this new school year. If you are a teacher, administrator, or support staff, we also want to pray for a safe, peaceful, and fruitful year for you. Hope to see everyone there! 💕

This Sunday, we look at Chapter 9 of the book of Hebrews. The chapter sets before us Old Testament cleansing rituals as an example of what Jesus brought in the form of His sacrifice and death on the cross. True cleanliness means cleaning things that are not seen, like the things we shove under the bed as children. We will look at the blood of Christ, and how Jesus cleans us not just externally, but from the inside out, freeing us from all the toxic effects of sin and shame.
