“Whose sky?” This Sunday is June 21—the longest day of the Northern year. Join us at SNUUC as Rev. Dr Sushmita Mukherjee asks us to reflect on the impact of geography on cosmology…”from Stonehenge and the Great Wheel of the Year, to the monsoon rains of Bengal to Aboriginal Australian lore. What might we gain if we stopped asking whose cosmology is true or universal—trusting instead what quivers when we each lean into the relational web that holds us?” Services begin at 10:30 a.m., in person at SNUUC or on zoom at

We’re excited to announce that Long Island Author/illustrator Angela Classi will be coming to SNUUC to discuss her new children’s book Vivi A-Z at the New York Public Library. This Sunday, June 14 at 12 noon there will be a short presentation and talk about her inspiration, a real life little girl named Viviani, who was born and raised in a hidden apartment inside the NYPL. (Her father was the building’s engineer.) Original illustrations will be on display and books will be available for signing. All are welcome at this free event.

We hope you’ll join us tomorrow morning--Sunday, May 24--for a worship service led by Rev. Dr. Sushmita Mukherjee. You're welcome in person or on Zoom at 10:30 a.m. Rev. Sushmita’s work draws on Eastern and Western myths, earth-based traditions, Taoism, Sufism and Perennial Philosophy. Her topic tomorrow: “Shadow Knows the Way:
On negotiated ground, shadow’s dignity, and the discipline of staying awake.“ Reflect with her on the devil that accompanies St. Nicholas in alpine midwinter, and the plaintive notes of a Rajasthani street vendor in New Delhi midsummer. What is the thread that vibrates between them? Come and explore with us the themes of shadow, myth and what it means to not go back to sleep.
