Our history...
The history of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church predates 1843. In those years worship services were held irregularly in Freemansburg. With the construction of a one-story church in that year, worship services began to be held on a regular basis with Lutherans, Reformed and Moravian all participating. It was known as the “Communion Church of Freemansburg.” Even with a building in which to worship, Lutheran worship services were still only held when a Lutheran pastor was available. However, in 1859, the Lutherans organized and adopted a constitution. There were 61 charter members. They continued to worship in the “Communion Church of Freemansburg” until 1875 when the Lutherans and Reformed built a new church known as “Trinity Union Church of Freemansburg”. The Lutherans and Reformed dissolved their union in 1902 at which time the Lutherans reorganized as “Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church of Freemansburg.” They built a new church in 1904, which is where they continue to worship today. In 2002 they joined the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod and are currently served by Interim Pastor, the Rev. Donald L. Brand.
