There are many single mothers with dependent children with little or no support from family or the community. "freedom house" has been created to stand in the gap to help single mothers with dependent children out of welfare to freedom and self-sufficiency starting with providing a clean safe living environment and then a program that will provide loving caring mentoring, personal growth, job skil
ls and job placement. "freedom house" is pleased to announce we are ready to launch our first phase campaign for our planned facilities in Watsonville, California in the Monterey Bay area. "freedom house" will provide a clean safe living environment protecting their vulnerability. Our first phase includes 4 houses and 2 apartments for our clients. Personal and family enrichment programs will be available to help mothers with personal growth, nutrition, parenting classes, job skills and personal mentoring. "freedom house" started with a simple premise: Make available the necessary resources to help our most at-risk families in our community, single mothers with dependent children, so they have the opportunity and help to be free from clutches of poverty and welfare. Over thirty years the members of our executive team have been in the development of housing and helping women in difficult situations become whole, healed and experiencing success through different ministries which would include Women’s Shelter Homes, Pregnancy Resource Centers and Centers for Abused and Battered Women. These experiences and understanding causes of poverty have motivated us to focus our energy and resources toward single mothers with dependent children, the most vulnerable and at-risk family units in our community. Life for single mothers is tough enough but the financial collapse of 2008 brought an unprecedented loss of jobs in the modern era, with single mothers with dependent children hit hardest. Over the last few years the founder and board members of "freedom house" have become in-tune with some of the major causes of poverty and the serious consequences of families causing 2nd and 3rd generation welfare families.
