🚀 TUESDAY EVENING MISSION UPDATE 🚀

Another exciting day has come to a close at Mission Control 2026!

While our astronauts enjoyed plenty of adventure and competition, the most important part of the day was hearing from God's Word through our Navigator, Pastor Stephen Pendell.

📡 Mission Briefing #1: Listening to the Right Voice

From John 10, our astronauts learned about the Good Shepherd and the importance of listening to His voice. In a world filled with distractions, competing messages, and countless voices demanding our attention, we can trust the voice of the Lord to guide us. Just as sheep recognize and follow their shepherd, we must learn to recognize God's voice through His Word and follow Him faithfully.

🛰️ Mission Briefing #2: Communication Protocols

During the evening chapel service, astronauts were challenged from Ephesians 4:29-32 to examine their own communication.

Are our words kind words or killing words?

God calls us to use our words to encourage, help, and build others up—not tear them down. Astronauts were reminded to avoid corrupt speech, bitterness, anger, and unkindness, choosing instead to show kindness, forgiveness, and grace to those around them.

⭐ The lesson was clear: our words have power, and God wants us to use them to point others toward Him.

☄️ Afternoon Launch: Pod Recovery Mission

Spacecraft crews faced a challenging afternoon launch as they attempted to recover valuable space pods and transport them back to their designated spacecraft zones.

Armed only with flying discs functioning as scoops, astronauts raced to collect the pods while navigating a dangerous asteroid field. As kickball asteroids rained down around them, crews had to dodge incoming impacts, protect their cargo, and work together to complete the mission before time expired.

The launch tested teamwork, agility, determination, and a willingness to keep going even when obstacles stood in the way.

As we end Day 2, we are thankful for the laughter, friendships, and memories being made, but even more thankful for the truths from God's Word that are being planted in young hearts.

🚀 TUESDAY MORNING LAUNCH REPORT 🚀

This morning, our astronauts ventured to the very edge of known space on a mission to claim new territory!

Both Team M.A.R.S. and Team V.E.N.U.S. bravely approached a mysterious wormhole containing a valuable quadrant of space. Entering the wormhole, however, was no simple task.

Before receiving clearance for entry, astronauts had to roll their cosmic calculators (giant wooden dice) and achieve the correct combination. Once permission was granted, they raced through the wormhole and placed a marker into one of sixteen beacons scattered throughout the quadrant.

The challenge quickly intensified as both teams competed for control of the very same beacons. Ownership of each beacon would belong to whichever team secured the majority of markers within it.

As the countdown clock ticked away, astronauts worked together to develop strategies, communicate effectively, and claim as much territory as possible. In the final two minutes, teams scrambled to connect lines of four beacons and establish their dominance across the quadrant.

The mission required teamwork, quick thinking, perseverance, and a little bit of luck from the cosmic calculators!

No matter the outcome, our astronauts demonstrated excellent cooperation and determination as they explored new frontiers together.

🚀 MISSION CONTROL - JUNIOR 2 - MONDAY EVENING LAUNCH REPORT 🚀

Mission Control is excited to welcome 95 astronauts as we begin our second week of Junior Camp!

Under the leadership of Mission Commander Izaac VanderSchel, our newest crew members arrived this afternoon, met their Pilots (counselors), settled into their spacecrafts (cabins), and quickly began preparing for the missions ahead.

The astronauts completed several launches throughout the day:

🦆 Launch #1: EVA Rescue Mission
A group of fellow EVA astronauts (rubber duckies!) had become stranded in the outerworld. Crews worked together to locate the missing astronauts, identify them by description, and safely return them to their correct recovery zones.

☄️ Launch #2: Asteroid Orbit Control
Team M.A.R.S. and Team V.E.N.U.S. faced off in a battle of orbital mechanics. One team worked to launch asteroids (kickballs) out of orbit while the other scrambled to return them. The competition was fast-paced, energetic, and full of teamwork.

⭐ Launch #3: Constellation Creation
Each spacecraft crew was challenged to create a brand-new constellation using only their bodies. Campers and Pilots stretched, twisted, sprawled, and connected together on the hill beside Mission Control (Ashbrook Hall) to form creative human constellations.

As the day came to a close, astronauts and Pilots gathered in Mission Control to hear a message from Navigator Pastor Stephen Pendell from Matthew 6:19-20.

The challenge for the evening was simple, yet profound:

"Just two choices on the shelf: pleasing God or pleasing self."

Will we spend our lives chasing after things that seem important but will not last? Or will we pursue God's will, invest in eternal treasures, and share Him with others?

As our astronauts begin this week's journey, we are praying that they will discover that the greatest mission is not found among the stars—but in knowing God and living for Him.

Praise the Lord with us! We passed our final inspection for occupancy! These cabins will be full of campers TODAY!!!!

Each cabin has 2 entrances-- one into the bunk room and one into the entry room. The entry room has 2 sinks and hanging storage. More permanent storage will happen later this summer. The entry room connects the bunk room and the bathroom hallway. There are 2 toilet rooms and 2 shower rooms in each cabin.

We're so incredibly grateful to our camp staff who worked tirelessly for months--- so many late nights! We also couldn't have done this without our amazing volunteers. So many folks have invested time and resources into this project right along with us.

We are excited to see how God will use these beautiful, new spaces for generations to come!

One more cabin to go, and all 4 on the old "boys-side-now-the-girls-side" will be done!!

We're so thankful to the Lord that this project has gotten to this stage!! This has been an exhausting season, and our staff is so weary.

Would you be willing to help us cross the finish line with these 3 cabins? We're so excited for you all to see them!!!! 🤩 God is so good and faithful!

If you can join us on Saturday to help lay flooring, clean the cabins, finalize bunk assembly, and clear the work site so it's safe for our campers, we'd be so grateful!

🚀 JUNIOR 1 - THURSDAY MORNING MISSION UPDATE 🚀

As our astronauts continue their journey through Mission Control 2026, we are reminded of the true reason for this mission: to know God and to serve Him and others.

Each day, our astronauts have been spending time in their daily Coordinate Check—Face to Face with God Time—studying Psalm 8. Through these nine verses, they have been discovering the greatness of God's Name, God's Plan, God's Love, God's Purpose, and ultimately, the greatness of God Himself.

Today's mission briefing challenged our astronauts with some important questions:

🌎 Why is it amazing that the Creator of the universe thinks about you?

❤️ How did (and does) God show His love for you?

⭐ How can remembering God's greatness keep us from being proud?

🤝 How can you encourage someone who feels forgotten or unimportant?

As we gaze at the vastness of creation, we are reminded that the God who made every star and galaxy knows each of us personally. He loves us, cares for us, and has a purpose for our lives. What an incredible truth for our astronauts to carry with them—not only this week, but for the rest of their lives.

Please continue praying that God will use His Word to shape hearts, deepen faith, and help each astronaut grow in their relationship with Him.
