🍇 The Blessing of the Grapes at Whatley Wines ☦️
Today, St. Thomas Orthodox Church was blessed to gather at Whatley Wines for our first annual Blessing of the Grapes.
In this video, Fr. Methodios, together with two of our Acolytes, offers the Church’s prayers of blessing and thanksgiving over the first fruits of Whatley Wines 2026 harvest and the vineyard from which they came.
The blessing of first fruits is an ancient Christian tradition rooted in a simple truth: everything we receive is ultimately a gift from God. In gratitude, we offer back to Him the first and best of what the earth has produced, asking His blessing upon the harvest and upon all those whose labor tends and cares for it.
There was something especially beautiful about taking these prayers outside the walls of the church and into the vineyard itself—giving thanks to God in the very place where these fruits were grown.
Our sincere thanks to Whatley Wines for welcoming St. Thomas and so graciously hosting this special morning, and to everyone who attended, supported our fundraiser, donated, and helped make our first Blessing of the Grapes such a wonderful occasion.
May God bless Whatley Wines, those who tend these vines, and the fruits of their 2026 harvest. And may this be the first of many years that we gather together in thanksgiving. 🍇☦️
