Bethel is a congregation of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church located in Fredericksburg, Virginia. We are committed to bringing the good news of God's Son, the Savior of sinners, Jesus Christ, to the community of Fredericksburg and our whole area. We are a fellowship of men, women and children united by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, committed to His Word and His gospel of saving grace. We are com

mitted to our historic roots of the 16th Century Protestant Reformation and its 17th Century doctrinal statement, the Westminster Confession of Faith with its Larger and Shorter Catechisms. We believe that the Bible is the authoritative Word of God, the truth that guides our lives. Our system of doctrine is the biblical doctrine taught in the Bible known as the "Reformed" faith. We are committed to loving one another and our neighbors as Christ loved us.

What does worship look like at Bethel?

We believe that the living and true God, our triune Creator, has instituted the worship of himself by all people everywhere in spirit and in truth. Because man’s chief end is to glorify God and fully to enjoy him forever, all of life is to be worshipful. Nevertheless, worship itself consists prima...

Tomorrow we will be uniting our voices for worship and singing this classic hymn, originally written in Latin. The minor key highlights the tension of living in the already but not yet, as we look to the 2nd advent while celebrating the 1st advent.

This week we will confess together the following prayer:
Dear Father, We confess that you are a great God, There is none holy like the LORD, there is no rock like our God. You are a God of knowledge, and by you actions are weighed. You kill and bring to life; you make poor and make rich; you bring low and you exalt. Forgive us for withholding your due praise. Forgive us for our pride, and the arrogance that comes from our mouths. Help us to rejoice in who you are and what you have done. Though you have shown us so much grace and mercy, we have desired more. We have hoped to use you for our selfish gain. We also confess that we are slow to remember that you will redeem us. We look for dramatic changes in our lives, and despair if we find none. Help us to see that you are at work even though it may not be apparent.
Draw us to rest in your promises, and give us patience that we would trust that though the Holy Spirit’s work may seem slow, it is sure. We come to a God who will complete the work he has begun in us. We come to a God who will raise up his people, who has already raised up a faithful priest, the Lord Jesus Christ. We are his sure house, purchased with his blood. We plead for the forgiveness of our sins in his name. (Based on 1 Samuel 2)
