Gaudete Sunday: “Go and tell John what you hear and see: the blind regain their sight, the lame walk, the poor have the good news proclaimed to them.” (Matthew 11:2-11)

Even in his doubt, John the Baptist seeks the truth, and Jesus answers not with argument, but with signs of mercy. God’s Kingdom is already at work in healing, forgiveness, and joy. This Sunday reminds us to rejoice, even when we wait, because Christ is already among us.

🙏 Lord, open our eyes to the ways You are at work around us. Fill our hearts with joy as we await Your coming in hope.

“Therefore, stay awake! For you do not know on which day your Lord will come.” (Matthew 24:37-44)

As Advent begins, Jesus calls us to spiritual wakefulness, not fear, but readiness. The people in Noah’s time were caught up in ordinary life and missed the moment of grace. We, too, can easily drift through our days distracted or complacent.

Advent invites us to pause, to open our hearts, and to live each moment alert to God’s quiet presence. Christ is coming, not only at the end of time, but into our hearts here and now.

🙏 Lord, awaken our hearts this Advent. Help us to live each day in Your grace, ready to welcome You whenever You come.
