This year's Benefit Oyster Roast recipient has been chosen, please meet, Sadie Sanchez.

Sadie was born with non-verbal quadriplegia cerebral palsy but that has not stopped her from being a loving and happy 12-year-old girl and full of life. She requires 24/7 care for all activities of daily living. Sadie loves art, water therapy, shopping, books and adventures like camping. Her older sister, Jillian (15), has been Sadie’s protector and loving support system for Sadie, alongside her mother Chasity Musselman.

Chasity is her primary caregiver while also working full time for the Department of Social Services for both Prince William and Fauquier Counties. Chasity tries to make Sadie’s childhood as normal as possible, but it is a struggle financially and physically.

Chasity is grateful beyond words that Sadie has been selected as the recipient of this year’s Benefit Oyster Roast. Donations will go toward medical expenses including specialized equipment that will enable her mother to move Sadie around within her house and transport her to medical appointments.

Updated info on our recipient, Niko!
Nikolas “Niko” Curtis was a silly, soccer playing, Lego building, roller coaster riding 9-year-old kid with three siblings who were always on the go. However, within two weeks of starting 4th grade, after a long summer of waking up in pain, having a weird gait, multiple doctor visits, and x-rays on his hip and leg, Niko was admitted to VCU and received his diagnosis of Ewings sarcoma, a cancer of the bone and surrounding soft tissues, and started his fight with cancer.

Niko’s tumor is near his spine and unfortunately is inoperable due to potential nerve damage. The doctors have recommended a combination of chemotherapy and radiation treatments. He had his first round of radiation in December 2024. His procedures, radiation and chemo will be ongoing for the next several months with future monthly lab work and tests during the coming years.

Niko’s parents Kyle and Kiersten are grateful that he has been selected as the beneficiary of this year’s Oyster Roast. Donations will go toward Niko’s medications, treatments, and other related expenses.
