MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) & MOMSnext (School Aged Children) is a dynamic program designed to serve moms from all walks of life, providing friendship, fellowship, support, devotion, guest speakers, activities, community service and more! Moms have found community through MOPS International (mops.org) for almost 40 years, and our local chapter is working tirelessly to make sure women throughout
the Fredericksburg area feel supported through our trusted network and relationships. Our program is built on several foundational principles:
• COMMUNITY: MOPS provides an open, caring, and accepting atmosphere where women can come together to share this important season of life.
• MENTORING: Mature women listen, encourage, and offer information and perspectives gained through experience.
• PRACTICAL INSTRUCTION: Teaching focuses on areas of common interest, offering inspiration and information that is relevant to the life of a mother.
• LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT: MOPS and MOMSnext groups are for mothers, organized and run by mothers. Women who are involved in MOPS and MOMSnext gain confidence in their leadership skills through the training and experience they receive from MOPS. We carry out these principles through:
• DISCUSSION: The intimate and accepting atmosphere of a small group offers moms a chance to share their successes, failures, questions, and concerns. It is during these times that a mom realizes that she is not alone, and lifelong friendships are formed.
• TEACHING: Topics presented at our meetings celebrate motherhood and meet a mom's unique needs during this season of life. We also strive to celebrate the woman, wife, sister, and friend in each one of our members.
• CREATIVE ACTIVITIES: Through creative projects and presentations, women are encouraged to experience the sense of accomplishment that comes with trying and finishing new things.
• SERVICE PROJECTS: We strive to give back to our community and beyond through service projects that enrich the lives of families around us. Our FREDERICKSBURG TEXAS CHAPTER meets on the last Monday of the month during the school year from 7-9pm at First Baptist Church, to encourage, equip, and develop every mother to realize her potential as a woman, mother, and leader. Meetings consist of a meal, fellowship, group discussion, and occasional speakers on topics such as wellness, family relationships, child development, and more.
